Great sounding cans yet under the radar Oct. 22 2013

It is an all-arounder for any types of music and most speaker-like and natural of all my inventory: DT880, K702, HD580 to name a few. Punchy but not overwhelming bass, smooth mids, detailed but not harsh highs. It sounds good in any setup including directly from iphone and sansa clip despite of 250ohm impedance, of course an amp will do it justice. It is also forgiving to bad quality recordings. Some people praise it as a closed HD600, but to me I even prefer it to my HD580, predecessor of HD600.
As a closed headphone, it also provides good isolation to surroundings. I can listen to mine all day in the office thanks to this isolation and comfort from the velour pads.

Check where they are coming from Oct. 11 2014

Returned because only one side was working. While it was purchased through Amazon it came from a third party supplier called AudioDeluxe. Amazon as usual sorted it out. I actually emailed AudioDeluxe letting them know they may have a bad batch. No response. I would have given them another chance. My advice therefore is to stay away from items shipped from AudioDeluxe. I'd say get these headphones but check where they are coming from. I ended up purchasing them from another retailer and they are brilliantly accurate and smooth. These are classics. I prefer them over many other Beyers which can be too dark or harsh for me. They should be amped if you get the 250 Ohm version (the best option in my opinion).
Excellent balance for a closed headphone Nov. 6 2013

This is an excellent closed headphone with balanced sound. The 250 Ohm version has solid bass. In a pinch, it can even be driven by a portable device, but it is clearly designed for use with a good amplifier. I use it mainly with a mid-80s NAD 3130. The clamp is fairly high, but the earpads are large and comfortable.
Awesome sound May 7 2014

Super accurate sound, better than most IEMs of the same price range, plenty of bass, can be driven by mobile.

The 2 minor problems:
1. not very comfortable wearing glasses
2. it gets hot

Although, mine is still really new, so maybe the fit will get better over time.

Update: after a few month of "break in", it's now very comfortable.

Sounded good, did not do as well as I hoped without an amplifier.
