Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Frequently pompous and very nearly humorless, Brandewyne's dull plot and heavy-handed lessons on the perniciousness of technology will give readers of fantasy the feeling that they've seen it all before. This sequel to Passion Moon Rising follows Iskander sin Tovaritch ("the only Druswid for the job") and Rhiannon sin Lothian (a woman raised by giants) on their quest to preserve Tintagel (the post-nuclear holocaust earth) from the forces of evil. Armed with the magical Sword of Ishtar and their ability to change shape at will, the protagonists and a band of followers journey to "the heart of the Darkness" to battle scaly knaves called the UnKind, whose sinisterly sibilant speech hints that they trained in elocution with the Hobbit's Gollum. When Iskander and Rhiannon infiltrate the villains' stronghold, they learn that the UnKind possess the machines of the "Old Ones" as well as a scroll from those days. A wicked magician is attempting to decipher the ancient text; only Iskander and Rhiannon can stop him--if they combine their powers--requiring Rhiannon to offer Iskander "what a woman can give to a man only once in her life."

I sent Ms. Brandewyne an e-mail, asking her about the status of book #3. She said that she would write it eventually, but not anytime soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond the Starlit Frost/Passion Moon Rising, Jun 21 2000

I loved this series! I started with the first book when I was 16 and finally found the second four years later at a second-hand bookstore in D.C. The combination of romance and fantasy really worked in this series. I just have one question (like the rest of you)--WHERE IS THE THIRD BOOK? I have been searching for almost TEN YEARS! If anyone out there has any info, please pass it along. If you haven't read the first two, they are well worth reading, even though the third is nowhere in sight!

4.0 out of 5 stars Beyond The Starlit Frost..., July 4 2005
By Morphia Opiate "night's mistress" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Beyond the Starlit Frost (Paperback)
This is one of my favorite romance genre type books. Beyond The Starlit Frost is very hard to categorize because it can easily be described as sci-fi, fantasy, and alternate history.Don't pay any attention to the horrible publishers weekly review at the top of the page. While it's far from a literary masterpeice it is an excellent romance genre novel that is extremly hard to put down.Taking place in a war-torn future world, Beyond The Starlit Frost tells the story of Rhiannon and Iskander of the planet Tintagel where technology has died and the world is experiencing the rebirth of magic. True love conquers all as the lover's battle the ultimate evil... Rebecca Brandewyne is heavily influenced by tolkein and norse mythology as well as avalon mysticism and any number of other myth cycles that somehow come together to create a truly unique world. Anyone who loved the animated film Wizards will definitly appreciate this book.
