Even Marilyn Manson keeps a layer of latex between himself and the kind of glammy grit collected by the Murderdolls, a side project of guitarists Joey Jordison of Slipknot and Tripp Eisen of Static X. From beneath their blackened fingernails come purpled scraps clawed from the hallowed tombs of the Damned and other groovy ghoulies; "Dead in Hollywood" even name-checks the late horror-movie star Vincent Price. Primarily the brainchild of Jordison, who plays nearly every note on this recording, the raucous punk bombast here mostly conceals any canned atmosphere. While the monotonous "Die My Bride" is pale, the good-time, guitar-driven "Dawn of the Dead" draws blood with a playful sneer. Overall vibe: Every night is Halloween, so let's party! --Ian Christe

1.0 out of 5 stars BAD JOEY! BAD!!! July 16 2004
Format:Audio CD
I thought I would have liked this CD I really did. I think back and ask myself why?
1. I am a Slipknot fan.
2. I love Horror Movies.
3. Murder intrigues me.
4. Murderdolls? Funny name.
5. Kill Miss America? I Agree
Why they are now on my top 10 most hated band list.
1. Could the singer have anymore of an annoying voice?
2. Could the singer actually write some real lyrics? Twist my Sister is possibly the most retarded song I have ever heard.
3. There's nothing special with the Drums at all.
4. Bass?
5. Norman Bates how are your rates? LEATHERFACE remove my face????? Ok now you drag my favorite slasher into your crappy songs, that crosses the line!
6. I wish the singer did slit his wrists.
7. The singers name is WEDNESDAY 13!
The positive things about this CD
1. The beginning of Grave-robbing USA is pretty funny.
2. the solos and guitar work is pretty good, but I've heard much better.
3. Repeat.
Why I am no longer surprised.
One of Joey's favorite bands growing' up was KISS.
What makes it even worse?
Now they re-release this terrible CD with bonus songs and a DVD.
If you're a Slipknot fan and you are pondering if you should purchase their CD, I advise you DON'T. (I am not a Static-X fan so I don't know what to say to their fans.) While Joey is a Fantastic Drummer and an above average Guitarist (the average is pretty low nowadays) just because his name is in this band doesn't guarantee that it's good. I don't really know what category of music it belongs in, does it go in rock? metal? punk? Garbage?

1.0 out of 5 stars Three terrible genres mixed into one. July 13 2004
Format:Audio CD
I can tolerate Slipknot since 40% of the time, it leads kids into listening to real metal, but I really don't see the need for a band like this. The only people that the Murderdolls appeal to are the Slipknot fanboys and uneducated juggaloes who think making 15 songs about nothing but crap like "I stabbed the guy in the head 'till he was dead!" is funny and cool, even though it's obvious that the people who write lyrics like that have never been involved in such activites.
I saw the video for "White Wedding" about two months ago and that perfectly explained who these guys were and who their fanbase are: a bunch of stupid goths. The band was dressed up in women's pantyhose, black lipstick, black fingernail polish, and what also looked to be women's makeup. With that kind of look, it seems that these guys would be better suited in appearing at a drag queen show instead of a metal festival.
The music itself isn't any better either. These guys have prided themselves by mixing nu-metal and glam/pop metal (probably the two worst types of metal ever created). Take my word for it, ANYTHING is better than this. Slipknot and Stone Sour look like the next version of Pantera when compared to this.

Now when I 1st picked this album up in july, i bought it because i liked static-x and LOVED slipknot so when i popped this baby in, i listened to the 1st 3 tracks and i was like what is this bulls***! so i set it aside until about two weeks ago, when i really had nothing to listen to and i had 45min to kill so i pop this album in my walkman and as i sit down to listen to this album i am not looking at it is a slipknot or static-x album i look at it as a murderdolls album & i found it quite enjoyable. sure murderdolls can't even compete with slipknot but there still good and i usually don't listen to bands with lyrics that aren't always serious. Still i found this to be overal a good metal album heres my review on the tracks below...........
slit my wrist - 5/5 awesome opening track the lyrics are really well done in this song
Twist my sister - 3.5/5 another good song and the guitars are awesome but its a little to short & repetitive
Dead in hollywood - 4/5 Good choice for a single Joey might be a better drumemr then he is guitarist but none the less he is a very good guitarist.
Love at first fright - 6/5 I believe this is another single and its one of my favorite's off of this album the lyrics are funny & catchy
People hate me - 5/5 another great song if, one of the few songs on the album were the lyrics aren't about horror movies.
She was a teenage zombie - 3.5/5 Ughhhh decent but definetly not my favorite
Die my bride - 4/5 a good song the lyrics could have been better though
Grave robbing u.s. - 4/5 A funny song i found myself laughing the 1st time I listening to this song.
197666 - 5/5 Another favorite of mine the short guitar solo is awesome and most obviously get the 666 portion of it
Dawn of the dead - 6/5 Catchy as hell.

The Murderdolls are absolutely amazing. This is really strange coming from me because my favourite band is Korn, but I still have to say that I absolutely love the style of the Murderdolls. I have a new respect for Joey Jordison, and I think that this band is basically a great career move for a bunch of members from other bands looking to rock hard on the side. Wednesday is a unique and amazing vocalist, the drumming is absolutely amazing, and Joey Jordison is basically a god of the guitar. You either get your blink 182 and Simple Plan punk rock that is too teen-oriented and not edgy at all, or you get nu-metalists Korn and Slipknot among others who focus on screaming incomprehensible lyrics, half of which are swear words anyway, and want to drive you to suicide. The Murderdolls combine both elements in a fashion nothing short of perfect, and deliver pop-goth metal that makes you bang your head and rock on to totally obscene lyrics that actually make you smile or laugh. These guys are simply amazing and if you are looking for a genuine heavy metal sound which makes angst sound positive then the Murderdolls are your best bet. Again, play this but make sure the folks or grandfolks aren't around.....actually, if you like these guys then wait until they are around =)

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter garbage.
Ok, they have some musical talent with Joey and Tripp. But my main major problem with this group is the vocalist, wensday or whatever his name is. He drags everything down. Read more
