Been using $3 economy bibles for years, but this year I'm attending bible college and I decided it was time to commit to a book that'll last. I ended up choosing this one based on materials and price, and it's quite excellent. The font isn't really 'large print' in my opinion, being an 8.5 point, but it's much much better than other compact editions that I've seen. The bonded leather is thick, and I have no doubt it'll last.
After breaking it in, it lies fairly flat nearly anywhere you open it too, though it might take a bit of use before it'll stay open to Genesis or Revelation, but I don't have it annnoyingly flopping closed during my Hebrews class.

The first one I received, the binding wasn't glued properly, but a quick hassle-free call to Crossway had a new one shipped to campus within a few days. Hard to beat that kind of backing at this price!

This is the perfect Bible for carrying around with me, and it is the alternative that I was looking for to my compact French Bible. It is hardcover, with a cloth covering, and it has an elastic to keep it closed. It is small, and the writing follows suit. It is worth noting that the type may be to small for some. It includes a ribbon bookmark, and a concordance. I am pleased to have found this, and at this price!

I was really looking forward to using this as a preaching bible. My plan was to write my personal notes and slight outline down the side and simply preach from it. Great in theory and would work if 1) the font print of the Bible was bigger...it is almost microscopic and one can easily lose their place when reading 2) the Bible itself was slightly larger which would allow for larger font print and a bit more space to journal and even thin the book itself out a bit. Bindings do seem good so the 3/5 is really about my personal expectations and preferences and not reflective of the quality of the book which is top notch.

I consider this a great way to read the Bible on the go. I love using my Kindle and this Bible comes in very handy as I travel or am waiting somewhere. I just love the Word of God. It speaks to me and is my guide and my helper on my way to heaven. I have found this translation good to read.

As a student learning Greek in College, I have been amazed as to the accuracy of this version. If I learn a new concept as to how the Greek is to be translated and I look it up in the ESV, it will be translated as the scholars have suggested it be translated. This accuracy however, does not sacrifice its readability. It's almost poetic flow makes reading it devotionally a complete joy! I would highly recommend it for serious scholars as well as the average church goer.

Review for ESV Single Column Journaling Bible with TruTone Cover in Leaves Design

The ESV has been my primary translation for about 10 years now, and I still believe it's the best all-round English translation available. For the last year or two I've been reading the Bible primarily on my phone using the Olive Tree app. Although I had been pleased that this helped me form a habit of regular reading, I'm currently in a process of reducing the time I spend looking at screens each day. As such, I decided to go back to reading a paper Bible and I thought this one would serve my needs very well.

This is a beautiful Bible and it feels good in the hand. The cover is not real leather, but it feels good and has a decent binding. The cream coloured paper is a nice touch given the earthy leaf design on the cover. I really like the single column text compared with two columns as I find it less distracting. The margins are wide enough that you can actually write something in them, and having them lined is fantastic. I really like the reading plan in the back. It will take the reader through the Old Testament once each year and the New Testament and Psalms twice each year. It's very straightforward and easy to follow.

There are only a few minor things that I thought could be improved. This Bible doesn't have any maps in the back which I do sometimes find very helpful in following the plot throughout the Historical Narratives and Acts for instance. There is no concordance either, which isn't a huge issue as most concordances in the backs of Bibles are extremely condensed and not all that helpful anyhow. This is a great Bible for devotional reading, though I would find the print a bit small for public reading in church or for preaching.

I gave it a 4/5, though if I could do so I would give it 4.5/5.

PSA: be careful of leaving these TruTone bound Bibles out in the sun or near a heat source.

Having read numerous translations of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, I find this to be one of the most pleasant editions to peruse. It has none of the mind-numbing Old English gibberish nor any of the vanilla flavouring that the Living Bible seems to exude. While few of us are fluent in Greek and/or Hebrew and, being so, are unable to properly evaluate any Biblical translation as far as the accuracy of its translators from the original writings, this edition provides an opportunity for persons to read this ancient series of texts from cover to cover in an easily understandable manner. In retrospect, it matters little whether or not the text matches the exact meaning of the original writers anyway. If only a few people are going to take the time necessary to read the complete Bible from start to finish and then ultimately fail to understand the diction they are reading, why are we wasting our time publishing such a well sold but poorly read book to begin with?
