Ages 1-3. This book is very reassuring, leaving the impression that little Michael or Ashley (or any child) will be able to succeed at potty training. Cole's matter-of-fact text points out that practice makes perfect, while Chambliss' watercolor illustrations show smiles all around--on Mommy and Daddy's faces, on the kids' faces, and even on the stuffed animals' faces. There is no yelling, no scariness, and no one gets in trouble for having an accident. Michael, with his stuffed bear, and Ashley, with her stuffed bunny, easily transition from diapers to big-kid pants, and their satisfaction at accomplishing this feat is very apparent. The text is the same in both volumes except for one added line in the boys' book: "Daddy showed Michael how to stand up when he made pee-pee." The last page includes "Tips for Successful Potty Teaching," which is directed at parents. Kathy Broderick

nice for kids with 2 parents in the same house,
This review is from: My Big Boy Potty (Hardcover)
"My Big Boy Potty" is a good potty book for toddlers who have 2 parents living together in a happy relationship. It's quite well written and details the whole learning process. But it's a bit awkward to read to my son, whose father has been absent and uninvolved since he was 2 months old.In this book little Michael's daddy is there helping on almost every page. I find myself avoiding it for that reason. My son and I much prefer a book called "Done with Diapers: A Potty ABC" by Rebecca O'Connell, which has been one of my son's favourites for a few months now.

My son is now 3 years and 7 months old and FINALLY potty trained. Alhtough other books were cute, this one was practical explaining accidents and the need for night time diapers after day time training. Very cute and one of my sons favorite books.

This review is from: My Big Boy Potty (Hardcover)
We are just starting potty training and my son LOVES this book. He can totally relate to Michael, the little boy in the story. I think it does a great job of explaining the potty training process in simple, easy-to-understand terms. Each time we read it he gets excited about trying to use the potty. I highly recommend it.
