5.0 out of 5 stars First of a great series, Dec 29 2003

This review is from: Big Shiny Tunes 1 (Audio CD)
Lets face it, when this CD was put out it was a different time in Pop Culture. Many of the post-Cobain grunge bands were still making it, the alternative brand of music that is on this compilation was really the last of a dying breed of songs, while they do still exist it is not really at the same magitude. I bought this shortly after its release. At the time I was in grade 8, and it seemed like this music was in a constant battle with the Boy and Girl bands that were starting there ascent towards pop fame. But on this one CD it was all brought together. Much of the anger does not exist as it did in the early '90s but this CD still puts out the best songs of that year. Some great songs on the CD that still stick out our Scooby Snacks, I can still remember acting cool when this one was on. Alone and Easy Target, a great song, by an even better group, listen to the Foo Fighters before there singles Everlong, and Big Me, these are good songs but not as good as Alone and Easy Target, My Hero, or a later but great song Breakout. The only song I could have done without was Angry Johnny by Poe. This CD is great. I used to listen to it while painting walls, and still do from time to time. Want a great CD get Big Shiny Tunes.
