Product Description

From the Author

Bigger Than Cool is designed primarily for youth, but adults will also enjoy reading it. I feel that this book is very much on target with what today's youth are experiencing and that it should be made available to students through schools, social, and religious organizations. The subjects are plentiful, and I've worked to provide positivism and perspective as my central themes. An adult book is coming that not so lightly addresses socio-economic issues and their effects on marriage, teens, role models, public education, and politics.

Bigger Than Cool is a book with poems from several notebooks of poetry that I've written over many years. I hope that you enjoy the poems, as much as I did writing them.

Bigger Than Cool Sept. 26 2001

Format: Paperback
While the author's intention was good, the book consisted of poetry written by an adult that the author thought teens would like. He was off the mark.

Bigger Than Cool Jan. 8 2012

Blair Karsch is the white Gil Scott-Heron. He uses simple, to-the-point language to construct short, powerful poems that get to the heart of important issues confronting modern teens. Someimes funny, sometimes sad, always profound, these poems will stay with you. If you have young people in your life between the ages of 12 and 18, get them this book!
Screamingly, Unintentionally Funny June 11 2012
By J. Hundley - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Almost want to give it five stars. While I suppose the author's heart is in the right place, the constant, sing-songy, Seussian-derived meter, the hilarious attempts at "keeping it real" with painful slang, and the obviousness of his "rap" (in both senses of the word) make this a delightfully dreadful read. To get the full effect, read them aloud in a group! To quote that musical group, Spinal Tap, so many of today's young people are so fond of: not a dry seat in the house.

I enjoyed reading Mr. Karsch's poems, however, I think the layout of the book could've been designed better. It is definitely worth a look.
