This book offers a view of the world through the eyes of a dog. -- The Reader - Weekend Magazine Supplement to the Telegraph Journal - James Risdon
Book Description
Biography of a Beagle which won in the Book Fiction Category for 2001 at the Dog Writers'Association of America Awards Banquet in New York on Feb. 10, 2002, is a tribute to Brandy the Beagle, a swashbuckling little canine rake that saw life as one grand opportunity and "fear" as the only truly obscene four-letter word.
From the Author
Over the course of sixteen years, Brandy astonished me, horrified me, humbled me, exasperated me, delighted me, inspired me, comforted me, and loved me...all in his own unique fashion. Ours was a symbiotic relationship. I explained, reasoned, and outright lied his way out of most of the scrapes he got himself into. In return, he providedme with copious grist for my creative mill, a constant fuel supply for my joie de vivre, an excellent example of endless optimism, and boundless, unconditional love.
From the Inside Flap
Beagles have been the beloved companions of captains and kings since William the Conqueror first brought these tenacious little dogs to England in 1066. Perhaps it was from those early days that the small hounds began to recognize themselves as special and started to display the aristocratic traits that would become their trade mark. Whatever the reason, beagles developed a sense of superiority and freedom which would forever allow them to indulge their eccentricities.
