I liked the DVD, although it wasn't as clear as what I would have liked. The music was not what I would have wished for, in fact it took away from the enjoyment of watching the DVD.

Bird, Birds, And More Birds! I loved it! Sept. 20 2010
By Read A Review - Published on
I love birds and this DVD focuses mostly on various birds yet some other wildlife located in Norfolk (England). It's filmed beautifully, the narrator has a nice voice, and the background music is soothing and nice with a combination of classical symphony, guitar and piano. The scenes of the beaches filled with thousands of birds roosting is incredible!

The film takes you through all of the seasons and the many different birds and plants that abound in the areas of Norfolk, most are water fowl. It was interesting to see the difference between young birds and the adults--their various markings, colors, etc.

Many of the birds are endangered or quickly becoming so, but the film focuses on the fact that some of these feathered creatures are making a comeback due to the improvement in habitat. I had no idea there were so many types of birds in Norfolk! I don't think any were left out in this 90 minute video.

Avian Delight Oct. 7 2010

One look at the breathtaking footage of the area's wildlife and natural habitats will have nature enthusiasts everywhere adding a trip to Norfolk, England to their bucket list. The film is a calm exploration of a rarely thought of area and serves as a reminder to how precious our natural resources truly are. The film showcases the diverse species of birds in the area throughout different seasons. It integrates other wildlife into the film as well. The narrator does an excellent job educating without boring you while watching the brilliant footage. The background music adds to the overall serenity of the film. This film is a must see for bird watchers, nature lovers and avian enthusiasts of all ages.
Beautiful--may lower your blood pressure Sept. 14 2010

A blend of gorgeous photography, pleasant classical music and leisurely narration, this DVD is a nice, family-friendly diversion for wildlife lovers. Norfolk in this case is the original: the Norfolk on the northeast coast of Britain, and it teems with a wide variety and dense quantity of interesting birds. As a guide for someone planning a bird-watching trip to the area, this DVD is perfect. And for the birder who can't make the trip, this is a drier, warmer substitute. I particularly appreciated the narration, which adequately described the area and the birds (seals, adders, butterflies, flowers and a few people too!) without imposing too much, or trying to be clever or cute. The shots linger nicely in this one, allowing the viewer to peacefully observe the birds' behavior. If that's a good afternoon or evening of entertainment for you, this DVD is just right.
A Can't-Miss Experience Sept. 29 2010

Too often it is assumed that documentaries must be controversial things--forcing constant debates, a clash of ideals. "Birds of Norfolk", however, proves that these films can instead merely please (as well as educate).

Providing stunning footage of England's Norfolk habitat, the film offers viewers over 90 minutes of rare birds and botanicals, sea creatures and meadow-dwellers. Through clever camera-work and simple narration the message of conservation is offered easily--and does not challenge patience by becoming too much of a testimonial. "Birds" is environmentally conscious but aware also of its audience. There is no lack of interest here.

And, with peerless cinematography, the story that unfolds is one all will wish to see again and again.
Breathtaking Dec 20 2012

As an avid bird watcher living far from Norfolk, it was fascinating to get a glimpse of the landscapes and many species that inhabit the area. What I really loved about this is that it is very centered on birds--a lot of nature documentaries are not so dedicated to birds alone. While you do get to see much of the native land, this is very focused on the many beautiful avian species that live there. You might find yourself wanting to make a trip to Norfolk!
