This book is not too short and not too long. It has very useful information about the Disneyland parks, and ride suggestions. My kids and I have used it several times as a reference for planning our trip. The synopsis talked about coupons - there are only six coupons, and for the most part they just encourage you to spend more than you normally would anyway - don't buy it for the coupons, if that's the selling feature! Other than that minor detail, we love the book and it's a regular fixture in our living room!

This guidebook is great for anyone travelling to Disneyland. Its very up-to-date and comes with lots of valuable information and interesting facts. Its not too big....so it fit in our backpack...where we could take it out and check on anything we needed to know while touring. There are other guidebooks out there.....but for quick and easy to find information....this book is definately one that I recommend to take with you. The other ones are a great read for home...but too big for travel.

Always informative. Nov. 1 2011

I've purchased a few of Birnbaum's Disneyland guides over the years. I find them informative, and this new one for 2012 is no exception. If I'm going to spend my time and money visiting Disneyland, I want to enjoy it to the fullest. Birnbaum's Disneyland 2012 is filled with useful strategies to avoid the worst crowds and longest lines. This book also describes every attraction in both Disneyland the Disney's California Adventure so I know what's new. Additionally there is detailed information on dining, shopping, and entertainment in and around the parks. The lodging information is useful, too. I recommend this book to anyone who has never visited these parks or only visits every few years. Information is power!

Very good guide , well worth the money April 25 2012

About once a year I goto Disneyland for 2-3 days, and bought this book just to see how it was and can say its a pretty good guide for people who may be going for their first time or have gone multiple times, i found some helpful info in it,has guides inside to help maximize your time in the park without missing anything.as well as helping you set a budget for how much to expect to spend at the park (hotel/food/misc. cost)

Has alot of helpful tips and has some history of the park(each of the rides) in it as well as some stuff to do nearby the park, overall is a very good book for the price!

A little light on some information July 31 2012
By Steve - Published on Amazon.com

I usually buy Birnbaum Disney books because I like what he writes. This is the first one for Disneyland that I bought. It is thinner than the Disney World books (though it is two parks smaller so thinner is expected). Like his other books, this gives some good information on the parks, getting around and a basic starter plan to get the most out of the parks. Each ride is described. They are accurate, though I would have liked a little more info and I would prefer more pictures (though owning other Birnbaum books, I knew this would be the case). The area the book was light was on the new Cars Land. I know the book came out before it opened, but an update is needed. There was very little description of the rides and being an official guide, I would have thought Birnbaum would have had more information even if it was not open. The description of the Mater rider was not accurate enough. And nothing about how bad the lines would be for the Radiator Springs Racer (just got back, 1 hour just to get the fast pass ticket - out of tickets by 9:15am - never got to ride it).

Overall, if you own Birnbaum books, this is more of the same. If you don't, it has good information and for the most part accurate. The tips for preparation are handy as is information on crowd levels and weather. I would just like more (though who wouldn't).
Birnbaum's are the best Dec 27 2012

You cannot beat a Birnbaum book for clarity, relevant information, and just overall a perfect guide book. This book gives yo a detailed tour through all the lands; California Adventure, and the 3 major hotels on property; as well as adjoining hotels near Disneyland. Highly recommended.

I have been to Disney World multiple times and went to Disneyland for the first time this year. Birnbaum is a must have tool every time I go to Disney. I buy the new addition almost every year!
