Review
?A useful and thorough bibliography, this work is divided into three major sections--general books, articles, and dissertations. Each section is subdivided into approximately 25 subsections. These include such topics as the black family and sex, slavery, poverty, education, housing, children, and health. Each subcategory can be quickly reached through its page location in the table of contents. There is also an index to subjects and authors. The book has more than 700 annotated entries, which are both brief and informative. This is a revision of Davis's 1978 book with the same title. Few entries were published before 1960, and many are current. An excellent source for both graduate and undergraduate students in black history or sociology; recommended for academic and public libraries.?-Choice
