Book Description

What’s black and white and read all over? Black & White is a visually exciting compendium that explores all things untouched by color. Though black and white lie beyond the color spectrum, they’re utterly essential to visualize the world we live in. They symbolize the tension and harmony of opposites: good and evil, positive and negative, life and death. Black & White collects amazing images and examples from mother nature and manmade culture, from penguins on ice floes to nuns on ice skates, from stripes on zebras to stripes on prisoners. Featuring hundreds of photographs, clever commentary, and a chic design, this gorgeous gift book and graphic essay explores a world that’s too cool for color.

5.0 out of 5 stars The coolest book on Black + White yet, May 26 2002

This review is from: Black & White (Mass Market Paperback)
The reader is the beneficiary of this smart, deep collection of obsessive compulsive creators. I loved the witty writing and the deep well of art and commentary. I've given this book out as a gift to my clients as a way of opening their eyes and really seeing true design integrity. After looking at the world in black and white, color somehow seems like a cheap gimmick.
