Product Description

Product Description

In the winter of 1965, the tiny nation of Laos received attention from international media as a neutral country that was still greatly affected by the Vietnam War. When President Lyndon Johnson ordered an airstrike against North Vietnam to end the rise of communism in Southeast Asia, the country of Laos also suffered many casualties. This is the story of a young boy and his struggle for a proper education during a time of political and social turbulence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving, chilling and touching all at the same time, April 1 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Blanket Coffin (Paperback)
This harrowing story of a childs view of what it is like to be growing into manhood in war torn south east asia is so vivid you can smell the smells and taste the tastes of every day life and war. That the character of the small child accepts the world as he finds it, like every child every where lends the story an ominous chill. The child recounts stories of horrors no child should see with innocence and it makes the story of this young man even more compelling and shocking. If you want to know the true cost and reality of war-read this novel

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating Page Turner! A Must-Read!, Dec 25 2007
By BookReader1 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Blanket Coffin (Paperback)
I'm not one partial to writing reviews online. However, I felt that it was pertinant that I express how I feel about this book. When I picked up this book, I could not put it down! An incredibly moving account of how the Vietnam War had changed the course of a Laotian boy's life. Captivating from beginning to end!
