Fire Captain Desiree Charles, having endured years of being treated like an outsider in a male dominated field, has finally found peace heading up Engine Company #19 located in the heart of Chicago. Slowly and methodically her solace is tested when several mysterious fires are set in the vicinity of her station house. Suspecting arson, Joshua Davis, head of the Chicago Fire Department's Arson Unit, is on the case. Desiree, who remembers Joshua from her father singing his praises years ago, gets butterflies in her stomach whenever he is near, which is not often. Joshua unknowingly adds fuel to the fire when he, instead of assigning the case to an investigator, decides to work closely with her to find out who's terrorizing the community. Will Desiree last long enough to solve the case or will she find herself surrounded in the fiery furnace of Joshua's arms?
Barbara Keaton has written a titillating novel chock full of romance and suspense. The hot and steamy love scenes will have readers reaching for a glass of water to put out the fire that starts whenever Desiree and Joshua come together. Although well written there are a few grammatical errors found throughout; however, they did not distract from the wonderful story encased in the pages of this novel. Highly recommended, BLAZE is a scorching good read.

Heating Up and Loving It!, Jun 6 2006

I found Blaze to be wonderful. I loved Desiree's character - tough when called for, womanly when needed and I loved how Barbara slowly ignited the passion between Desiree and Joshua. The book title goes well with what's inside the covers (literally).
Thanks for the enjoyable read, Barbara.

Predictable, April 8 2009

Desiree Charles is the Captain of firehouse 19 in Chicago. There's a rash of fires happening in her area, which only happen during her shift. In walks Joshua Davis the Fire Inspector, he and Desiree begin working together to try and find out who the fire starter is. I figured it out who the arsonist was after the second fire, because it was pretty predictable.
The romance between Desiree and Joshua was okay as was the story. I'm just glad I bought my copy at the Half Priced Bookstore on sale.
