3.0 out of 5 stars Blazing Texas Nights by Victoria Thompson July 9 2007
By Jean Kassab - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is the story of a young woman that raises an adopted brother that was purchased by her father so he would have an heir. In the mean time the ungrateful jerk of a father dies and our hero shows up, the real father of the now 17 year old boy.

Badness and evil conspire to make everyone unhappy. Murder, accidents, near shootings etc.

The title is misleading, although the love interest were not celebity, neither would I call it "blazing". The plot and characters were ok, but could have been better enriched, in my opinion.

An enjoyable read for those of us that like Western Romance.
2.0 out of 5 stars Quiet Texas Nights. Feb 3 2010

Great cover art and concept: so-so concept. Always in search of a good Western, I fell for the title and scandalously clad female on the cover. Ha!

Leah is a loving and sharp woman who has raised her adopted brother in order to take over the ranch she has carefully run for many years. You will find her big heart very warm and refreshing. And frustrated with the selfish antics of her brother.

Along comes "gunslinger" Calhoun, claiming to be the biological father of her young brother. One thing leads to another, and Calhoun ends up falling for Leah and feeling entitled to save her and her ranch from landgrabbers and annoying teenagers.

Here's the thing... this novel is far from Blazing. The love scenes are mostly frigid. In fact, one is downright awkward and I cringed through it. Calhoun doesn't blaze either. In fact, if the novel hadn't stated that he was a gunslinger, I would have forgotten. He seems like a normal ranch hand to me! Towards the end, there's some blazing all around both in love and gunslinging.
