Product Description

From School Library Journal

Gr 8 Up-Tiernan's novel offers a protagonist not unlike Anne Rice's witches-she's for real. She can move things with her mind, she can speak in ancient tongues, and she's got incredible healing powers. Almost 17, Morgan has had quite an eventful year. She has learned that she is a "blood witch," that her birth parents were both powerful witches from the Woodbane family, one of the seven ancient Wiccan clans. She also finds herself involved with two young men-one who says he is her soul mate; the other seems to threaten her very being. The author does a fantastic job of creating a suspenseful mood and successfully sustains it throughout, and Morgan inhabits a world of magical powers that the average Wiccan does not. The information and facts about Wicca aren't as plentiful as in other series but the story is more exciting and adventurous. Unfortunately, parts of the narrative are confusing. Several chapters begin with diary entries from characters who may or may not be part of the current story. These journal entries do appear to have something to do with the larger story, but it isn't clear what. This third book in the series does not stand on its own and teens who haven't read the earlier titles may find themselves frustrated and lost.

4.0 out of 5 stars A real life spook, Jan 26 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Wicca 03 Blood Witch (Paperback)
This book is an epic tale of how a girl came from living in a close confided catholic society to experience the ways of wicca.

This is the 2nd book of the fascinating 15 set series of wicca books. The second book "blood witch" tells us how Morgan finds out about her new mother Maeve Riordan and how her parents died. It also tells us more about the religion of wicca and how there something about cal we do n ot no.

You need to start reading the excellent Wicca series by Cate Tierman.
First book "book of shadows"

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended to Parents who cant get their daughters to read, Jun 15 2004
I purchased the Sweep series for my 13 year old daughter in the hopes that maybe she would read. "She hated to read." Well I was amazed, and could not get her to go to sleep, as she would spend the whole night, with a night-light on reading these books. She enjoyed them so much, and could not stop talking first about Cal and then Hunter, that I had to see what all the fuss was about.
Well after two weeks, a book a day, for a girl who hated to read, it sparked my curiosity, so I started reading, and was surprised to find out how enjoyable a Teen book about Teen Witches could be. I am not really into Wicca, but these books are really enjoyable. I am on my fifth book, and my daughter read each twice, and is know on the Circle of Three Series. I have to highly recommend these books to those parents who can not get their daughters to read. These are excellent stories, full of fantasy, horror, and fun.
