4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasurable read, Dec 5 2009
By Benjamin - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Blossom at the Mention of Your Name (Paperback)
Gerth is one of the lads, a typical Geordie, but when he along with his friends decide to visit a a Newcastle gay club for a bit of a laugh what Gerth found was not so much a laugh but love. For there on the dance floor was this graceful and beautiful slender young man with a head of blonde hair named Callum, and Gerth could not resist looking. Despite his worries true love wins and the two become one, but is their love enough to keep them together as the ambitious Gerth begins to climb the career ladder with the prospects of international travel, and where there is no place for a gay lover?

Blossom at the Mention of Your Name is a delightful story of true love, and what it can overcome, but also of its limits. Callum is a most appealing and interesting character, despite his effeminate ways and slight build, he is both physically and mentally strong, and is adept at managing his relationship with this dream man Gerth, handsome and all muscle. But there are limits to Callums powers, and when things go wrong he has a few good friends to fall back on.

While I enjoyed this story, I do have reservations as to how it eventually panned out. It seemed to loose impetus towards the end, Callum ceased to be the central character as new characters were introduced or existing characters became more prominent. It is nonetheless a pleasurable read.
