4.0 out of 5 stars Closure in Next Series Nov 8 2011

Blue Dragon: Dark Heavens Book Three (Angry Robot) Chan, Kylie
Let me just say this---I have gone from really disliking this series, to admiring some of it and to least being curious to see more. I eagerly finished "Blue Dragon" pondered all of the unanswered questions and immediately went to search for the author's web site to see when the next book comes out. After all we do need the Turtles book since we've had books about the other winds haven't we? Well I searched the author's web site high and low and there is no information about a fourth book. What there is, is info about another series. In this second series there seems to be a continuation of John and Emma's story.

In this book we finally get down to the nitty gritty, John Chen is seriously depleted and only has weeks to live. Emma is showing less and less humanity, although nobody can prove that she is anything more (or less). Leo is also succumbing to his disease, although ultimately he is not killed by it and is now on another dimension/plain. Emma's family is in China although they have been moved to the Celestial Plane and they are loving it!
This book is filled with the answers to many of our questions and the authors does NOT sugar coat what eventually happens to John. If anyone is under the misconception that this is a romance novel--- this book will certainly dissuade you of that notion.

I understand that this is NOT a romance series ...yet the author DID write it as such (John declaring his intentions to the Heavens, love making, love declarations and soliloquies etc). Hopefully we will see a bit more romance between the two in the second trilogy. This conflict is another thing that forces me to give it less stars than it possibly deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Drama Is Beautiful July 17 2012

I love this book. I thought the 1st book, White Tiger, was ok with alot of potential. The 2nd book, Red Phoenix, locked me in;I had to know what happened next. The 3rd book, Blue Dragon, caught me by surprise from the weight of sadness and beauty. And I began to understand the story in this trilogy as something dark and lovely and epic. As is a main character:John Chen. Also known as: The North Wind, Xuan Wu, God of Dark Martial Arts, The Black Turtle of the North. There is a beautiful semetry to this trilogy.

I had TEARS softly streaming down my cheeks through out this entire book. It is emotional. Joy, devastation, devotion, despair, romance, sentimental, intimate and FUN. It was all there in volume.

I see chinese mythology in a new light...with a new interest. The evolution of one's mind body and soul; moving from one world to the next; worlds and realms of Shen and immortals and demons and Gods...It is all so exciting.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great conclusion for the last part of the trilogy Jun 14 2013

My copy of this book is extremely well thumbed at this point. I very much enjoy all of these books, and this one was no exception.

Kylie Chan's fun style of writing really allows us to get into the characters who have all really fleshed out on the journey we've taken together since White Tiger. There's a real emotional attachment to them now, and Kylie holds us all in the palm of her hand with the characters lives constantly in her mercy.

Fangirl for life. Thanks for writing such an enjoyable series of books :)
