Terence Stamp delivers a beautiful performance in this film. This is one western that is worth watching. It doesn't have the "typical" theme most western's have. This is more of a human story. The story of a young man who was raised by people not of his kind, growing up this is all he knows until he comes face to face with the harsh realities of what the rest of the world has to offer. Showing how sometimes the human spirit isn't always the greatest assest. This film was well written and well directed if you haven't seen "Blue" check it out I guarantee you will like it!

Recently purchased this movie from Amazon (the delivery was quick). I had seen this movie when I was 16 and I had really liked the story of the movie back then. Needless to say, it still feels the same way and a good performance by Trence Stamp (who is still around and going strong). DVD picture quality could have been better although it can be classified as 'good' and the sound needs to be filtered or enhanced to meet today's audio technology. Overall worth the price !

Heartbreaking and operatic March 29 2009
By Nancy E. Patton - Published on Amazon.com

The young Terence Stamp has a haunting beauty in this operatic version of a Western. I can overlook the accent just to watch him -- and the horses and the scenery! Joanna Pettet as his practical, pioneering 'love interest' is spirited and believable and the story has a suitably tragic thread running through it. I am very glad that I bought it on DVD so I can watch it again. And again!

Great Find Dec 24 2010

What a great find! I was looking for this movie for a while in DVD. The price was very low and in excellent condition. This movie brought back many memories, as one of my sisters was an extra in the film and I was there as parts of it was being filmed. It was great to watch it with no problems!

Over the moon, but ..... Sept. 1 2009
By Mrs. S. Lewin - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
I am over the moon to receive the DVD of Blue as it is a fond memory of a film I watched many years ago with my father (now deceased) unfortunately I cannot play it as it is for Region 1 - I had no idea that this DVD wouldn't play on my DVD recorder in the UK, but as I work for a Broadcasting company I am sure someone will be able to assist me. Otherwise I am just happy to have the memory - it means a lot to me.
Memorable, But Dark Sept. 24 2014
By Barbarianz - Published on Amazon.com

This was a little different than most westerns where the protagonist is a good guy accused of doing wrong, or someone who wanted a better life than a life of crime. The Blue character was hard to like because he seemed to enjoy the evil side and was thriving in it with an adopted father and some adopted brothers who accepted him. He and one brother seemed to be competing for not only their father's favoritism, but also future leadership of the gang, and Blue seemed to be a natural leader.

But it all changed one day when the gang crossed the river into Texas to rob & kill. Blue kills one of his "brothers" who was trying to rape a young woman and only regrets that his "father" and "brothers" may try to kill or exile him for it. He really has no concern for the woman or anyone else. When he is wounded, though, she does not forget and gives him shelter and care.

Throughout the rest of the movie Blue is pulled between the old life he enjoyed and the chance to start again with people who are willing to accept him without question. Whether he can survive and tolerate the good side is the question he must answer. The ending is a good one.

The movie is one that will stick with you as the good vs. bad conflict intensifies both within and without Blue, but the violence and rapes would not be appropriate for children. If anything, the bad tends to be very intense and developed, while the good is pretty everyday hum-drum and low-key.
