Don't read if you haven't read this book.,

I read this book having not read the first. If you haven't read Free-falling, don't panic. The author did a good job and what was going on.Darian's use of big words made me think he was reciting Shakespeare or something. After awhile it got annoying and was overdone. Made me think more than once if I was reading a book based in the old west or about some royalty back in the 1600's. Emily was immature and the humor was a little dry. Darian and Emily fell in love way to quickly. But I guess that's romances for you. One question I have is about the evidence against Davis. If Bonner and Clyde knew that getting Darian off the hook was in the bank all along, why didn't they say so before Darian was arrested? If they would've done it a long time ago then Darian's name would've been cleared. But hey. It's a book. You got to have drama. Well, especially a romance book. The author should've read a few western books. The setting did not have the western characteristics. Including some of the characters. The townspeople fear Darian and his gang? Huh! What's to fear? If you want to read about real outlaws then read a western. Yeah they were considered outlaws. But dangerous? Where people run in fear because Darian showed up in their town? Please. The part from where Darian is betrayed to the time he reunites with Emily was very well done. I could not put the book down! The ending was a little farfetched. And I'm not so sure I even understand it now. I'm not sure I even care. Would I read another book by this author? Probably. As long it doesn't have to deal with a western type setting.

After reading Free Falling I couldn't wait to lay my hands on this sequel to it & I wasn't disapointed. It is brilliant. Darian is to die for. My one disapointment is as far as I can tell there will be no other books in this series. I just didn't want it to end. Please Stobie write some more.

Emily Morgan was working in her shop when she over hears a couple reading from one of her history books. She thinks they're crazy when they start talking about a Civil War hero that was hanged for mutiny like they knew him personally. Emily listens in on the couple and finds herself involved in their story when she slips and is discovered. Imagine, these people think they can send her back in time to help the solder who they think was wrongly hanged. Emily becomes fast friends with Cora and Adrian and almost hopes that they will be able to send her back in time. She'd sure like to meet the man they describe since she believes there is no possible way a man like him could exist.Darian Woodward has seen time travel before so when Miss Morgan drops out of the sky with a funny kite and hardly any clothes on he's not surprised she's from the future. She was sent by his good friends to help him keep from hanging. He has to see justice brought to General Davis, the cause for him turning Outlaw. Seeing the little lady in her shorts and hiking boots has Darian thinking not so gentlemanly. Darian is a brave, noble, gentleman who is also a virgin. He talks and even robs with respect. He is a hero of the war and a natural born leader of men. His group of solders that follow him, agree with his cause think justice will prevail. The group uses manners and think they are on the right side of the law even though they are being hunted as outlaws. Each character is memorable and an important part of the story. The romance between Emily and Darian start very early in the book. They even get married early but that's just the beginning. This is a sexy, sensual, romance through and through. You'll have to turn down the AC while reading it, and the action will have you chewing on your nails. Emily finds out she is brave and does have courage, while Darian finds out what's most important, and I found the perfect hero. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful:

Emily Morgan goes back in time to try to warn a Civil War hero to change his course to avoid being hung as a criminal. Of course, Darian Woodward's sense of honor would never allow him to abandon his mission to clear his name, and for some reason, Darian just seems to get himself deeper and deeper in trouble.But he can't avoid his feelings for the woman of the future who refuses to wear decent clothing. And although she knows the future is uncertain, Emily can't resist the allure of the most honorable man she has ever met...especially since he's the spittin' image of her former husband! This is an engrossing story with memorable characters and an unusual plot. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that I thought the ending was a bit too pat to be believable...although I'm not sure that time travel romances are meant to be realistic....! 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful:

Emily goes back in time to save a chivalrous hero and finds instead a bedraggled gang led by an arrogant gunfighter. But Darian isn't want he seems, and proves to be a study in contrasts throughout the book. I was especially touched by Darian, who is a virgin and a gentleman, and a darned sexy lover, too. The devotion of his gang reads as believable and real, and I became attached to every one of them as well as the main characters. This is a book that will have you laughing and crying, and the focus of the plot doesn't linger painstakingly long on the hows & whys of time travel, but sticks with the romance and action. Highly recommended!
