Bluenose Ghosts was advertised as NEW and purchased as a birthday gift but returned because it was USED. Hugely disappointed when it arrived sealed in a Canada Post plastic bag because the flimsy single layer of wrapping paper, not a box, not an envelope but in one layer of paper finer than a grocery store paper bag that had likely ripped when first dropped into the letter box.
Not only were the pages damaged where the paper had ripped, but the spine was also broken, the blue cover worn to a white line along the spine and the edges of the pages were yellowed and worn looking.
Immediately communicated on line through Amazon with the vendor who flatly denied the book was used, curtly asked for all wrappings to be returned for a refund and added that I obviously didn't know how Amazon worked.
As a first-time Amazon customer, I was not impressed with this vendor's unprofessional attitude. Photographed in detail the packaging, damage and used characteristics. This review format does not allow photos to be included, unfortunately.
Purchased a Canada Post padded envelope and paid $11.50 to return the book guaranteed to arrive within 2 days. That was Jan 24th. Today is Feb. 17th. Not a word of acknowledgement from Shibumi Management Canada 184 Larkin Drive, Nepean, Ont. K2J 1H6.
Therein lies a weakness in the Amazon return system. The vendor should be required to notify on line / electronically the receipt of a returned book. At this stage of the business deal, I'm the one without anything - a book or a refund notice.
Please review the business practices of this vendor.
