The Brazil works on the same principle as all coffee presses. It combines coarse ground coffee with water that is just off of a boil. This combination along with 4 minutes of extraction time allows the oil and acids that give the coffee it's flavor to be completely extracted so you get a balanced and flavorful cup of coffee each time. After 4 minutes, just press and enjoy. There are no paper filters to soak up the oils, and cleanup is a snap. The 3 Cup Press is 12 oz and yields 3 - 4 oz. cups of coffee.

The Brazil French Press coffee maker, designed in the early 80's, was our first coffee maker and quickly became a symbol of what Bodum stands for. Attractive and functional design at an affordable price. The Brazil has an ultra-light, heat-resistant borosilicate glass beaker and a plastic handle and base, which make the Brazil easy to use and easy to clean. The 3-part stainless steel plunger has a fine mesh filter, which allows for a premium extraction of your coffee?s aromatic oils and subtle flavors. A mesh filter allows this flavor to be delivered direct to your cup and not absorbed by a paper filter. Plus, no paper filter means no waste. The patented safety lid prevents the splashing of liquids while pressing. All parts are dishwasher safe. This 3-cup coffeemaker is (.35 l, 12 oz.) in size and is also available in 8-cup (1.0 l, 34 oz) size model.

Highly recommended. We use it as our everyday coffee maker. One brewing only makes enough for two mugs but it only takes four minutes to brew. Easy to clean, easy to use. Makes a great rich, dark coffee. Recommend six rounded scoops of coarse ground coffee for each full brew.

I purchased this "8 cup" model because we use a Bodum all the time - makes great coffee! However when it arrived I was disappointed to realize it is the same size as what I would call our 4 cup model. The only thing I can do now when company arrives, is use both units to make 8 cups. Too bad it wasn't really an 8 cup!!!!!! If you're looking for a larger Bodum so you can make more cups each time, this is not for you (nor me).

I go through these quite often, needing to replace every year or two. this one is awkward to put the plunger back in and impossible if you fill it more that 1" from the top.

Makes good coffee, easily breakable though.
Knocked this off of the granite accidentally and cracked it, so if you're clumsy like me you might want to look into one with the stainless coverings.
