Product Description

Product Description

In 1993 a major department store in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, closed, intensifying the sense of dispossession in a neighborhood long-affected by poverty, homelessness and drugs. Will the remarkable redevelopment of this store bring hope -- and more importantly, positive change? Explore the partnerships needed to realize a larger social mission and the challenges today's architects face to build beautiful and sustainable cities. "Something that makes Woodward's so complex and fascinating is the crazily diverse cast of characters responsible for it. Their stories are well told and illustrated in a meaty, good looking book." -- The National Post
