Product Description

From Amazon.com

Pull out your Bics and get ready to flick. If ever there was a band made for massive rock shows, Bon Jovi is the one--and this is the video to prove it. So the veteran band lacks the sheer charisma of fellow Jerseyite Bruce Springsteen, or certain other distinctive qualities--U2's impassioned social conscience, say, or REM's self-conscious weirdness--of others who made it big in the '80s. Bon Jovi is, by objective definition, a journeyman band. But that's not a bad thing. They specialize in the kind of hook-heavy, unpretentious anthems ideally suited for stadium crowds, and that's exactly what they deliver to the 50,000 fans packed into a Zurich, Switzerland, venue on their 2000 European tour, who pump their fists, wave their arms, and sing along from beginning to end, undeterred by the steady rain that falls throughout the show.

It's a safe bet that no one who was there went home disappointed, and neither will the Bon Jovi fans who pick up this great-sounding, well-directed DVD. Singer Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora, and company hit the ground running, opening with two of their catchiest hits, "Livin' on a Prayer" and "You Give Love a Bad Name," before rolling through seven tunes from 2000's Crush, their first album in five years, and a host of other Bon Jovi ballads and rockers. And if the 20 songs from the two-hour concert all start to sound the same after a while, you can always switch to the host of DVD bonus features, including a 30-minute "on tour" documentary, a photo gallery, a complete discography (including solo albums), and two song videos. A splendid time is guaranteed for all, more or less. --Sam Graham

Video Details

After several years of being casually on and off, New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi came together for the 2000 Crush Tour. Filmed live on this tour, "The Crush Tour" video features a raucous, energetic performance of several of the band's greatest hits, plus a couple that lead singer Jon Bon Jovi released during a successful solo career. Songs performed include the rock ballad "Wanted Dead or Alive," "Bad Medicine," "Born to Be My Baby," and the hit that propelled them into fame, "Runaway." Songs: Livin' on a Prayer, You Give Love a Bad Name, Captain Crash and the Beauty Queen from Mars, Say It Isn't So, One Wild Night, Born to Be My Baby, It's My Life, Bed of Roses, Two Story Town, Just Older, Runaway, Lay Your Hands on Me, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, Bad Medicine, I'll Be There for You, Next 100 Years, Someday I'll Be Saturday Night, Keep the Faith.

4.0 out of 5 stars old is good, April 21 2007

This review is from: Bon Jovi: The Crush Tour (DVD)
As a "just older" Bon Jovi fan I thought this was a great peformance. All the hits + some new ones. Jon and the boys seem to having a good time despite the weather. Sound quality was good, but the not the best I have heard, although I thought the video was good. Overall very satisfied with the concert and glad I purchased.

1.0 out of 5 stars Recall this dvd and base the recall on pride, Feb 11 2006

This review is from: Bon Jovi: The Crush Tour (DVD)
This DVD (to put it mildly) is a disaster. Before I begin I am not that fussy a reviewer
and I gave this mess every reasonable chance.- The review is based on two viewings
One with a 96 inch firehawk screen a high end runco projetcor a marantz amp and boston acoustic speakers with 5.1 - 7.1 dts sound (not the best but better than most).
The second with a 65inch Sony Both with hdmi and hd simulation etc . . .
Ok let's begin- the picture is blury period-the editing is borderline professional and
boring - the performances look like a bunch of tired guys trying to get through the
night so they can be somewhere else. - and if I'm going to be extremely genererous
and find something that isn't negative here the best I could do is call the sound barely adequate.
The only thing this dvd will crush are your future expectations from Bon Jovi
I would like my money back or if any one knows how to send him this review a copy of the next (improved) dvd would be just fine.
It's really too bad - there is nothing to be proud of here and he seems like a genuine
stand up guy.
Definition of something good in dvd quality = Simply Red- Live in Sicily .

1.0 out of 5 stars Total Waste of Money, Feb 20 2004
By
Frosty (St. John's, Newfoundland Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bon Jovi: The Crush Tour (DVD)
I am a huge Bon Jovi fan and I bought this DVD cause it said it had more footage on it then the Live in London DVD and what a mistake I made. The show is Terrible. I have seen the Live in London tour on TV a few times and it was 100x better then this. Jon seems as if he's way past his prime and most of the crowd are old ladies just there cause they have middle aged crushes on Jon from their teenage days. Show was poor, Sound was poor, and I expected alot more.
