I enjoyed Season four just as much as the first three but there were some cracks. Not in the quality of the video or the extras which are both superb, (the commercial on the first desk with the cast of My three sons and Route 66 is priceless, a 60's TV lover's dream) but with some other things. First the scripts are starting to repeat themselves. More episodes of Cartwright's mistaken for crimes they didn't commit and more episodes with Cartwright lost loves (Can't they keep a girl even for a few episodes?)
Also Pernell Roberts is starting to look very bored and tired. He really doesn't lead in an episode until the 2nd disc but more than than that it really appears he doesn't want to be there.Check out some of the cast pictures that come with episodes and look at his um happy face.
Overall Bonanza is one of my favorite Westerns along with Gunsmoke,Wagon Train, The Virginian, Have Gun will Travel and a few others. The price may seem high but there are 34 50 minute episodes with plenty of extras so I believe its worth the price.
