5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Pictures Jan. 27 2010
By Mrsahc - Published on Amazon.com

If you're buying this book DON'T make the same mistake I did by also purchasing the Wonderful World of Horses Coloring Book (Dover Coloring Book) thinking I was getting different and additional beautiful horses to color. Just buy this BIG book and you've got two books combined in one.

I was very surprised at the quality of the pictures in this book. Very detailed and beautiful. Not the ordinary cheap quality pictures. I think anyone will be pleased with this book.

I got this book for my daughter who LOVES horses. It's a treat for when she does good, and she is REALLY excited to get it. The pictures are good, there's a nice bit of information on the horses, and the pictures are pretty and will be nice to color.

My 12 year old niece loves this book although she did say that the pictures are so detailed that they are a bit tricky to color.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and educational, all rolled into one BIG book! July 23 2014
By Liz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
An excellent amount of information is included in this book along with 150 coloring pages. Divided into four sections:

1) Favorite Horses (with an individualized index)
In this section you will find a good variety of horse breeds. Under each picture there are a couple of sentences describing each breed and the "job" that they did or do.

2) Horses of the World
At the beginning there is a Glossary of Color Terms which is an excellent idea for those who want to color their pictures accurately. In the description of each horse under the picture, it tells you the colors that particular breed of horse comes in. This section has 42 horses.

3) Wonderful World of Horses
This section is EXACTLY the same as the individual book of the same name. It is just general pictures of horses with a descriptive phrase underneath normally referencing the action shown not the breed of horse. For e.g. A noble steed, Time for a drink.

4) Ponies of the World
At the beginning there is an explanation of the difference between a horse and a pony. This is followed by a Color Glossary. A very informative description is included under the picture of each pony. There is also an index for this section.

An excellent value for money, this book is not only fun but educational. The only aspect I do not like is the way the artist has drawn the horses feet. On most he has drawn really thin pasterns and then come out with angular hooves - just looks weird! I'm sure many kids will not even notice though!
