5.0 out of 5 stars great recipes, novel book Feb. 6 2006

about 15 years ago a couple of friends invited me for a party and served some sandwiches that blew me away. I went on about them so much that they gave me the book. Unfortunately I lost it, but recently started thinking about again when I was attending culinary school. This book is a keeper. Cool ideas and great tasting recipes. Im going to buy it again for inspiration and I imagine it will get used alot.

Reason #1. There are no sandwiches in the book that you can eat.
Reason #2. Not enough sandwich humor...i.e. sandwich/pastrami jokes.
Reason #3. Phil Sanborn is a tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great photos and creative ideas July 28 2013

I LOVE the inspiration for small sandwiches / canapes in this book, as well as the tasty meal-sized ones. About 100 creative combinations, each on its own page and beautifully photographed. If you're ever in charge of a celebratory "Tea" event, or willing to work a bit to make great-looking appetizers this book is fabulous.

My favorite meal-sized sandwich, so far, is an open-faced breakfast sandwich: toasted raisin bread, topped with cottage cheese (or cream cheese), grated apples, some granola with chopped nuts, and a drizzle of honey & sliced strawberries (and oranges, if you have them).
