This series is amazing- the previous reviewer simply didn't read the description of the novel in detail to realize that this series is NOT manga. In Japan, the series became so popular that it was adapted into a manga FORMAT. This is the not the first book of the series, and I highly recommend reading from the first book "Book Girl and the Suicidal Mime" before diving into this series because you won't be familiar with the characters and development of the storyline if you do not.
I love this series!! I always find myself absorbed into the plot whenever I read them and am highly anticipating the sixth book!

Amazon messed up badly and did not provide a clear distinction between a manga and an invariably poorly translated and poorly written "light novel". I have never been able to get through even one of them, regardless of my interest in the series, and the Book Girl series was one I wanted to try out. Now, I'm stuck with three books I'll never read.
