Book Description

“You can't know how your business is doing until you record it.” Bookkeepers’ Boot Camp is the first book in the Numbers 101 for Small Business series. It shows small business owners the essentials of record keeping, and why it's crucial to a business’s success to track financial data. The book gives business owners a greater understanding of the purpose and process of record keeping and a deeper understanding of their businesses. Mohr has helped hundreds of small business owners who didn't understand the importance of record keeping and always put it off until “later.” These business owners were almost literally buried under a pile of papers, overwhelmed by the immensity of the task at hand. Mohr shows business owners how to sort through the masses of information and paperwork, record what is important, and how to use that information to grow a business for success! Eighty percent of all small businesses started this year will be gone in 5 years. As Mohr says, starting a small business can be “like driving a car in a foreign country where you don't know what the road signs are telling you.” Numbers 101 for Small Business is a new series of easy-tounderstand guides for small business owners, covering such topics as bookkeeping, analyzing and tracking financial information, starting a business, growing a business, and exiting a business. Using real life examples, Mohr teaches small business owners how to beat the odds and turn their ideas into successful, growing companies. (20100801)

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for Bookkeepers!, July 22 2010
By Sevastian Winters - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Bookkeeper's Bootcamp: Get a Grip on Accounting Basics (Paperback)
Once upon a time, I argued with my book keeper about how I conduct myself in between her visits. This book isn't just for bookkeepers. It's for business owners who need a basic knowledge of bookkeeping that is written in language ANYONE can understand! If you pay your bookkeeper by the hour, save yourself a ton of money and buy this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep This Book On Your Desk, Aug 19 2010
By J. Garton - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Bookkeepers' Boot Camp: Get a Grip on Accounting Basics (Paperback)
From the basics to advanced details, this book covers it all. This is like a college degree packaged cover-to-cover. The book provides:

-- Worksheets.
-- Sample forms.
-- Ways to detect and solve issues.
-- Instruction on how to deal with foreign currency.
-- Ways to monitor cash flow.

And so much more information that this book should have a permanent spot on your desk for easy reference. If you own a new business, established business, or work as a bookkeeper, this guide is a must have.

2.0 out of 5 stars Clearly written by a bookkeeper, Feb 19 2011
By Elector "Elector" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Bookkeepers' Boot Camp: Get a Grip on Accounting Basics (Paperback)
I wanted to like this book. But it was far too simplistic in areas, then it introduces new term without explanation in others. Or it over-explains the obvious, then cites Sample charts that are comprised of mostly unexplained entries.

I have the impression that the author forgot who the audience was at times. There were chasms of understanding to leap. If I have to google introduced terms while reading an entry level book, or introductory text, then I have the wrong book in my hands.

My copy of 'Where Did the Money Go' is on the way. Maybe I'll have an easier time of it with that one.
