5.0 out of 5 stars Still a top play after 20 years Mar 17 2008
By Decairn
Format:Audio CD
Bought the LP. Bought the CD in '86 the first week it was out. Still in the main-play list all these years later; the songs and production are top-notch.

5.0 out of 5 stars They don't make 'em like they used to! April 13 2004
Format:Audio CD
I just recieved my CD copy of Boomtown.
Wow the memories just flood back. Of all the CD's that I own this one has to be the most powerful. Although Baerwald and Ricketts pretty much dispised each other, they created an album that after 18 years stands up to anything published today. In fact it excells. I was an impressionable teenager (19) when this record was first released and "swallowed by the cracks" was my anthem. To hear it restored in digital form is a real treasure. Although a bleak album about drugs, drug abuse, spousal abuse, the funny way that close friends seem to just drift apart and things they had in common suddenly don't exist.
David and David are writing about real life.. People change... Habits change.. but sometimes when you're down and out, hope is around the corner. This album in my opinion will stand the test of time.
If you have never heard this CD, give it a spin..you will want it for your own. If you owned the album or cassette now is the chance at a very low price to own what I consider to be one of the best group efforts to ever be put in to digital form.
In closing... BUY THIS CD.. You Will NOT be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff Jan 21 2004
Format:Audio CD
This is great stuff. I got their album when it originally came out and loved it. I recently got the CD and love it even more. Upbeat, downbeat, creative, clean recording, snappy, brainy, feeling and more. Somewhat "classic rock" with a hint of "top 40". This album still holds its own. Highly recommended.

A bit "'80's" but still good stuff. "Boomtown" and "Swallowed by the Cracks" are the two stand out tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars One hell of a ride!
This album has it all ... smart lyrics, solid rhythms, and raw, heart-felt vocals--all performed with a rough, dark-city edge that'll keep you listening again and again. Read more
