The binding looked really worn, which was too bad because I was giving this book as a gift. I got this for a 7 and a half year old who is in love with all thing American Girl and she LOVED it! :)

Perfect Cure for Boredom Oct. 25 2012
By Mary E. Fox - Published on
Format: Spiral-bound
As a retired teacher, I never like to hear the whine, "I'm so bored!" This little book by Aubre Andrus is a gift to children and adults as well. Filled with wonderful ideas for games, crafts, and recipes, it holds a little girl's attention throughout a listless, rainy day. But there's more. Each quiz helps the child to discover her own talents and interests, leading her to an activity to match. In time, the child knows how to find her own activities without total reliance on a nearby adult. The other day I was thrilled to hear my little grandchild ask, "Nana, I'm feeling a little bored. Do you have that book?" Yes! Self-reliance is so much healthier than self-pity!

Creative fun learning! Nov. 25 2012

I bought this book as a gift for two girls ages 8 and 5 who love American Girl Dolls. "Bored No More" is a fantastic activity book for kids who are learning while having fun. The reading is perfect for the average reader between 5 and 9 years old. I highly recommend this book!

A Fun Book From American Girl Sept. 21 2012
By Dad of Divas - Published on
Format: Spiral-bound
American Girl brought this book to you. There are 19 different activities. As your young girl reads and answers the questions, there is a follow up page that explains their answers and suggests some creative activities.

One part I especially liked was on page 10 called ART STARTS. It asked questions which lead to activities that allowed the girl to several avenues to develop her own creative style.

This is a nice open ended book- no right answers-lots of room for creativity for your young girl.

Wonderful! Nov. 1 2012
By Emma Yanevskyy - Published on
Format: Spiral-bound
We got this book for my older daughter, but it seems my 5 year old has taken over. We brought it to a hockey practice so I could check it out, and my younger daughter wanted to try one of the quizzes. The questions themselves were fun, but then when I read her the "answer" of what she should do based on her answers, a whole conversation started planning how she would do that activity and sparking all sorts of tangents. She got so caught up in it, she forgot to be bored. Now she frequently asks that I read the book to her, and many fun activities and projects and conversations have been the result. The suggestions are open ended enough to allow us to modify them to fit her level, but detailed enough to get us started and moving right away. The variety is perfect because my two girls are so different. My older daughter uses the book, too, but ends up with totally different answers and projects. I am a happy mom. :)

Helped Bridge a Gap Jan. 21 2014

My husband and I are new to being foster parents. One of the first children we kept was a nine year old girl. Since we didn't have children before, I was looking for ways for us to connect. This book really helped. She couldn't wait to read it and do the activities. We didn't get to all of them, but the ones we did...she enjoyed.
