Product Description

Album Description

Highly anticipated 2012 debut album from the New York-based singer, songwriter and performer. She has described herself as a "gangsta Nancy Sinatra" and cites Britney Spears, Thomas Newman and Bruce Springsteen as her musical influences. Lana Del Rey's direct influences were visual as well as musical; David Lynch, soundtracks for `50s black and white movies, the whirring sound of the Ferris at Coney Island, fame itself. She lived in a New Jersey trailer park and decked her homestead in flags, streamers and seasonally inappropriate Christmas lights. Like these things she loves, the album sparkles with color and vitality. Includes the hit singles 'Video Games' and 'Blue Jeans'.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of a kind, May 25 2012
This review is from: Born To Die (Audio CD)
I consider myself really fortunate to have discovered this CD. This girl is unique: American imagery with a European sensibility, the absolute extreme in over-the-top romantic Weltschmerz (hey, look it up). Have heard nothing else like it. Deadly stuff. She's a pretty damned good videographer too: the video for "Video Games" is almost as good as the song itself. That song and "Born to Die" (the song) are going to live forever, and "Blue Jeans"... I dunno, it's possible, haven't decided yet. But I look forward to listening for the next few years in order to come to a decision....

2.0 out of 5 stars Great album, but poor quality pressing, Mar 29 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Born To Die (Vinyl) (LP Record)
Great album, but poor quality sound on this UK 2 LP. Sounds compressed and vocals sound slightly distorted. No warmth, "highs", "lows" or detail.

Stick to the cd. Don't waste your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Judge by SNL Performance, Feb 21 2012
This review is from: Born To Die (Vinyl) (LP Record)
A true vocal artist in her own right. Definitely check out the YouTube clips, but I
gotta say - digital audio does not do her vocal chops justice. Vinyl is the way to
go with ALL the right equipment. The tunes present a variety of styles and Lana ( Lizzy )
can pull them all off effortlessly and entertainingly. A delight to the sonic senses.
Long Live Vinyl ! Long Live Lana/Lizzy !
