Product Description

Vinyl LP pressing. Highly anticipated 2012 debut album from the New York-based singer, songwriter and performer. She has described herself as a "gangsta Nancy Sinatra" and cites Britney Spears, Thomas Newman and Bruce Springsteen as her musical influences. Lana Del Rey's direct influences were visual as well as musical; David Lynch, soundtracks for `50s black and white movies, the whirring sound of the Ferris at Coney Island, fame itself. She lived in a New Jersey trailer park and decked her homestead in flags, streamers and seasonally inappropriate Christmas lights. Like these things she loves, the album sparkles with color and vitality. Includes the hit singles 'Video Games' and 'Blue Jeans'.

Great album, but poor quality sound on this UK 2 LP. Sounds compressed and vocals sound slightly distorted. No warmth, "highs", "lows" or detail.

Stick to the cd. Don't waste your money.

This is a fantastic album! She has the most beautiful voice, and does a lot of great things with it. The songs all have a fun groove that just flows nicely from one song to the next. She is a clever lyricist and songwriter. If you are looking for a fun and unique album, then this is one worth checking out. All of the songs are great!

Fortunately my first exposure to Lana Del Rey was her Summertime Sadness video, which is a work of art. Had it been Video Games, with its affected posing, it might have taken me longer to get into her.

There are a lot of Lana bashers out there, some of whom seem to see her as a manufactured artist, citing her both father's influence and the Team Lana who outwardly seem to have carefully formed her into a groomed personality. On the heels of the utterly pathetic "Friday" viral video by Rebecca Black, which was paid for by her mother, I can understand some people being a little gun shy about 'fake' artists, but there is nothing fake about Lana Del Rey.

Born To Die is a very classy, nuanced album, which brushes multiple genres, and I can only suggest that people give it a listen and make up their own minds. As with Paradise, I found this to be very refreshing. Just get in the car and crank it.

There are three vinyl versions of this album
this one is the 2XLP with all the tracks (includes Lolita, Without You, and Lucky Ones)
the 2 lp is very good quality and sounds great

the 1 lp (us version) is awful quality and does not have the three extra tracks

Received this album from amazon in good order and good timing. Its a fantastic album, which took me some time to warm up to. These days new music doesnt always appeal to me as it often sounds overprocessed and unauthentic, but this album seems to have floated above that. The lyrics and vocalist sound genuine, troubled but authentic. Her vocal style is refreshing (although occasionally limited) and cinematic at times. The album is aeressive and seems to tell a story.

Not all listeners will like it.. And it took me time to warm up to her.. But im glad i did. Very entertaining album.

I love that the album is in a nice paper album case instead of those terrible plastic jewel boxes we all dislike.

I consider myself really fortunate to have discovered this CD. This girl is unique: American imagery with a European sensibility, the absolute extreme in over-the-top romantic Weltschmerz (hey, look it up). Have heard nothing else like it. Deadly stuff. She's a pretty damned good videographer too: the video for "Video Games" is almost as good as the song itself. That song and "Born to Die" (the song) are going to live forever, and "Blue Jeans"... I dunno, it's possible, haven't decided yet. But I look forward to listening for the next few years in order to come to a decision....

I ordered the vinyl in high hopes of it being amazing. Unfortunately it wasn't Lana Del Rey on the album. It was a different band. So I'm not impressed with the switch and that I paid a lot of money for something I didn't order. It came packaged with the proper Lana Del Rey album cover and lyric lists however the album was incorrect which makes me wonder if I want to buy vinyl on Amazon ever again. If there was an option for no stars I would've given that.
