Product Description

Product Description

Vinyl LP pressing. Highly anticipated 2012 debut album from the New York-based singer, songwriter and performer. She has described herself as a "gangsta Nancy Sinatra" and cites Britney Spears, Thomas Newman and Bruce Springsteen as her musical influences. Lana Del Rey's direct influences were visual as well as musical; David Lynch, soundtracks for `50s black and white movies, the whirring sound of the Ferris at Coney Island, fame itself. She lived in a New Jersey trailer park and decked her homestead in flags, streamers and seasonally inappropriate Christmas lights. Like these things she loves, the album sparkles with color and vitality. Includes the hit singles 'Video Games' and 'Blue Jeans'.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great album, but poor quality pressing March 29 2012
Format:LP Record|Verified Purchase
Great album, but poor quality sound on this UK 2 LP. Sounds compressed and vocals sound slightly distorted. No warmth, "highs", "lows" or detail.

Stick to the cd. Don't waste your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great March 5 2013
Format:LP Record|Verified Purchase
There are three vinyl versions of this album
this one is the 2XLP with all the tracks (includes Lolita, Without You, and Lucky Ones)
the 2 lp is very good quality and sounds great

the 1 lp (us version) is awful quality and does not have the three extra tracks

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing Sound! Nov. 16 2012
Format:Audio CD
This is a fantastic album! She has the most beautiful voice, and does a lot of great things with it. The songs all have a fun groove that just flows nicely from one song to the next. She is a clever lyricist and songwriter. If you are looking for a fun and unique album, then this is one worth checking out. All of the songs are great!

I love this music. I usually find two or three songs that don't move me, but every track on this CD is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Born to Sing Aug. 4 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I first heard Lana Del Rey's song, "Summertime Sadness" last year as part of a compilation. I then knew I must purchase her album "Born to Die", that has that song and several others of equal musical calibre. Del Rey's voice is distinctive and beautiful, with a certain air of irony and introspection. This is a CD that can be heard over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kiss me hard before you go... June 12 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Fortunately my first exposure to Lana Del Rey was her Summertime Sadness video, which is a work of art. Had it been Video Games, with its affected posing, it might have taken me longer to get into her.

There are a lot of Lana bashers out there, some of whom seem to see her as a manufactured artist, citing her both father's influence and the Team Lana who outwardly seem to have carefully formed her into a groomed personality. On the heels of the utterly pathetic "Friday" viral video by Rebecca Black, which was paid for by her mother, I can understand some people being a little gun shy about 'fake' artists, but there is nothing fake about Lana Del Rey.

Born To Die is a very classy, nuanced album, which brushes multiple genres, and I can only suggest that people give it a listen and make up their own minds. As with Paradise, I found this to be very refreshing. Just get in the car and crank it.

She has a great voice, a quirky, kind of retro style, and there wasn't one track I didn't really enjoy.
