Bosch AQ3ES AQ3ES 2400/2700ES Series Horizontal Vent KIT The AQ3ES Vent Kit includes the necessary components to vent the Bosch 2700ES or 2400ES directly to the outside through the adjoining wall. Also includes venting to draw in air from the outside. The Bosch AquaStar 2700ES / Bosch AquaStar 2400ES tankless water heaters can obtain combustion air from outside the home (recommended) or potentially from ambient air inside the home (depending on your available air volume). It is recommended to use the AQ3ES Vent Kit to pipe the combustion air from outside the home as this is less expensive air (non-conditioned) and outdoor air is generally cleaner air, allowing for less maintenance on the water heater and for a longer life expectancy of the Bosch AquaStar 2700ES / Bosch AquaStar 2400ES. Check your heater's Installation Manual to determine if you have enough available air volume inside to properly supply its air intake needs. If you will be terminating the vent pipe from the Bosch AquaStar 2700ES / Bosch AquaStar 2400ES horizontally out a sidewall, the AQ3ES Vent Kit is required. You may use PVC or rigid sealed 3" or 4" pipe for the combustion air. Please read the heater's Installation Manual for the full details. This is an excellent kit for any unit that will be vented horizontally that does not exceed 18 inches from the outside of your house. In other words, you need to be mounting the water heater against the outside wall of your home for this kit to work. If you are mounting your unit against such a wall and the wall is less than 18 inches in thickness, this is a perfect kit and will have everything you need. The only downside is that the kit does not do a good job of telling you how to install the required wall heat shield. A quick call to the company can provide you with the help you will need to install it.

One clarification for the manufacturer description:the two itemized gear clamps are for flex inlet tubing;
Z-VENT stainless exhaust sections include all necessary built-in gear clamps.
J. D. Weekley was misled by his authorized installation professional:
1) The only aluminum in the kit is flex inlet tubing. Bosch specifies aluminum, PVC or galvanized for inlets.
2) 3 or 4 inch stainless category III exhaust can be used, but 3 is a better fit.
4 inch requires a 3-to-4 inch increaser.
Bosch specifies a 3 ft minimum exhaust length;
using 4 inch might increase that minimum.
Another consideration is that 3 inch diameter is less likely to require damaging webs when run thru cinder block walls.
The thru-wall vents provided for exhaust are not long enough for cinder blocks;
an additional 6-inch length of Z-VENT will be needed.
One consideration not addressed by this kit is condensate disposal when a drain is not within reach of
the drain tube supplied with the heater.
For whatever reason, parts slide together so that
leading edges of inner pipes are facing exhaust gas flow,
contrary to conventional flue pipes.

This is a great product that makes your work easier. Make sure you make holes in wall first and install it then mount your hot water heater. Manafacturer could have put some extra pieces more in package for the price they charge
