1.0 out of 5 stars Blade holding problem Feb. 5 2014
After using the saw a couple times found I couldn't get the blade to snap in and hold. On closer look the blade holder had rotated 180 degrees and was facing backwards. Installed a new shaft and chuck assembly and it worked great, twice ! Inserted a blade a couple times and after removing the blade the chuck assembly is now facing backwards.
It's going in the garbage, at least the the carrying bag is good.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this model, it also has been superceded March 24 2011
By Benjamin S. Chin - Published on Amazon.com
I bought this Bosch jigsaw from Lowe's for $99.00 when my cheap $25.00 generic died. I presumed buying an expensive jigsaw from Bosch would be more durable. I was wrong. The blade holding mechanism is fragile. After using it infrequently for about 6 weeks, the spring clamping mechanism no longer secure the blade confidently. Manually turning it tighter only works temporarily until the tool vibration loosen it again.

I explained the problem to the tool tech at Lowe's. As part of his examination of the tool, he tried to adjust the blake holding mechanism but can't as the mechanism has retreated deep into the tool's housing making it almost impossible to reach. When he finally reached it after squeezing his finger into the housing, he, too, found the blake clamping mechanism loose and weak. The entire frustrating experience is one more additional reason why this tool is garbage.

Having experienced the same aggravation as I had, the Lowe's tool tech gave me credit and allowed my trading to another tool. As to not take advantage of Lowe's excellent customer service, I purchased their top-of-the-line Bosch jigsaw, $135.00. After using it just twice, I found the blake holding mechanism to be superior and blade change easier than the $99 model.

Recommendation: avoid Bosch's cheap model. Buy the expensive model.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good saw March 30 2012

Unlike the others reviewing the saw, I've had no problems with mine. I've used it extensively for a week now and the blade mechanism is fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best i ever used June 23 2013
By chuckey - Published on Amazon.com
As a wood worker for many years I've used several jig saws. I have 4 in my shop now and when it came to cutting a circle I would use my scroll saw if all possible before I would use one of those jig saw. Not now. I used this saw for 2 cedar arbors I recently built and today I cut several curves for a cedar garden chair I'm building. I'm very impressed. glad I bought this. I love the quick change blade. I hope the others who have complain about the quick change weren't using the right blades. Now I have a few for the up coming garage sale..

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT an example of Bosch excellence Jan. 31 2012
By A. Quint - Published on Amazon.com
From the beginning had a problem with blade holding mechanism, but unlike reviewer whose tool wouldn't hold the blade mine had problems with releasing/loading it. Thought it might just be stiff, as it seemed to fix itself after a bit of time. WRONG. Now it won't release at all. Even when it was working performance was just mediocre (vibration; wandering), so depending on cost of repair, might not even bother....
4.0 out of 5 stars Good Saw With Plenty of Power April 4 2014

Plenty of power for this DIY's needs. Good quality product which I expect from Bosch. The only complaint I have is that blade changing is a little cumbersome, and the blade doesn't always eject as the manual says it will (yes, I read the manual). For me these are minor issues and do not detract from the saw's performance. This is an excellent no frills saw which is exactly what I wanted.
