In-ear. Noise Cancelling. Better sound.

Consider them your go-to headphones, wherever you go. The first in-ear noise cancelling headphones from Bose give you more control over how you listen than ever before, in all kinds of environments. Block the outside world with full-on noise reduction. Or, choose Aware mode and let some of it in—all while keeping your headphones on and your music alive with Bose sound. Wherever your day takes you, QC®20 headphones keep you connected. To the beat of your music, and the pulse of what's around you.

Bose QC20 with mobile devices
QC20 headphones: your ideal tablet companion.

Lose yourself in your music. Or not so much.

With QC20 headphones, you can enjoy music on the go as never before, with an unprecedented combination of superb sound, advanced noise reduction and in-ear convenience. StayHear+ tips physically block some noise while our Acoustic Noise Cancelling technology electronically reduces most of what's left. It's just you and your music, even in noisy environments.

But there are moments when you may not want to be so cut off from your surroundings. Crossing a city street. Waiting for airline gate announcements. This is where Aware mode comes in. Instead of removing your headphones, just press a button, and you're back in touch with the sounds around you—while your music keeps playing and you still experience some noise reduction.

Engaging sound

All this, plus Bose lifelike sound. Sound you wouldn't expect from in-ear headphones. Our TriPort technology and Active EQ combine to give your music a depth and balance that keep your daily soundtrack fresh and alive. The subtle details shine through, too. So wherever you are, your music's front and center.

Bose QC20 with Aware mode
Aware mode lets you hear sounds around you while keeping your headphones on.

Comfort plus

And your music's even easier to enjoy when you're not fussing with your headphones. Proprietary StayHear+ tips create a soft, secure fit with no need to force them into your ears. The mushroom shape spreads contact evenly across the ear for maximum comfort, and forms a gentle seal that contributes to the headphones' full-spectrum noise reduction.

You're in control

Controls are all at your fingertips. The control module has a slider switch to turn noise cancelling on and off. Use the inline remote/microphone to activate Aware mode and take calls on your Android, BlackBerry or Windows phone.

Rechargeable battery

The built-in lithium-ion battery (located inside the module) charges in just 2 hours with the included USB cable, and delivers up to 16 hours playing time per charge. A battery indicator light displays power status. And, even if the battery dies your music still plays with performance equal to that of our regular in-ear headphones.

Bose QC20 - Your Go-To Headphones
Your go-to headphones, wherever you go.

The headphones and cables fit nicely into the carrying case when not in use.

Living in a high rise apt/condo with the usual "noise", such as footfall and all else that comes with that, I have always been a fan of a "noise cancellation" feature on headphones. On quiet evenings at home, I mainly like to watch TV with a pair of headphones on and effectively "silence" the outside world.

At this time about a year ago I first plunged into the world of noise-cancelling, and purchased Bose's QC-15s. I always hesitated mainly because of the price which I guess is a relative thing but paying well over $300.00 for a pair of headphones is a sizeable amount for the average person. As good as the noise-cancellation was, I found the discomfort after wearing the QC-15s for 20 minutes and longer to be annoying. I also had to replace the earpads themselves after about a year as they started to crack and eventually completely split open. In no small part I am sure that was thanks to the build up of sweat and chemicals from the shampoo in my hair or oil from the skin. Even thought I did try to clean them regularly, it didn't prevent the deterioration and ultimate replacement of the pads - which by the way are NOT cheap (almost $80.00).

Anyway I wanted to find a pair of phones WITHOUT the big earpads that envelop the ear. So I purchased a pair of the 20i today and am extremely impressed - no, BLOWN away! - by the noise cancellation. I am a bit of a skeptic. Despite the great reviews I've seen by professionals and regular audiophiles alike, I still wasn't convinced that the noise cancelling would be as good as the QC-15s because they are in-ear and do NOT envelop the ear - a logical assumption I figure.

These headphones started becoming defective after purchasing them 14 months ago and their after sales service was terrible.

I showed up in person at their store in the Eaton Center in downtown Montreal with my receipt where they told me there was nothing they could do and handed me a business card with a number to call.

After reaching someone on the phone, I was asked to pay close to 200$ of the original value to exchange them.

It's also relevant to mention that there is minimal wear on these guys (see picture) as I keep them at my desk all day and never commute/workout with them! For these headphones to break so easily in a little over a year is very disappointing. For Bose to ask me close to 200$ to replace them is unacceptable.

-- UPDATE --

After making a formal complaint to to their Product and Technical Support, Bose promptly responded and waived the fee to have my headphones exchanged. My faith in the Bose brand has been restored!

I currently own a set of QC15's, and I enjoy them a great deal. I bought these because I was growing tired of carrying my QC15's to and from work, now I can use the QC15's at work, and the QC20's at home.

For my review I'm going to give a quick overview of how I feel they compare to the QC15's (even if it is an apple vs oranges argument)
Noise Canceling - The QC20 wins by a tonne, the noise cancelling on these things is amazing
Audio Quality - QC15's win by the smallest amount, they just seem to sound better, can't really say why
Comfort - QC15. While the QC20's are super comfortable, I do find the QC15's to be more comfortable.

These are by far the best noise cancelling headphones. I have tried and tested these compared to the Bose QuiteComfort 25, Bose QuiteComfort 15, and Beats On-Ear Noise Cancelling Headphones and found the QC 20i's to be the best. The Bose Quietcomfort 20i are in a league of their own, they are small and compact, easy to travel with, have decent sound quality and eliminate sound better than any other noise cancelling product.

I use my headphones for hours daily, and can attest to their build quality. After 8 months of use, while bench pressing, it's possible I pushed into the mic and control portion with the bench bar. The headphones became finicky and BOSE replaced them no problem. I love these headphones and I love this company, so will you. Worth every penny.

I bought these because I was looking for a product to take the place of my full-sized Bose QC 15 headphones. I used these for several years while travelling and thought they were great, but I wanted something less bulky.

The 20i earphones are definitely worth it. The earphones come in an Apple version and presumably Android etc. They fit in a small pouch that easily goes into a travel bag or jacket pocket. The earphones fit well and I experienced no problems getting them comfortably seated. The earphones, cords, and the built-in battery have an all-in-one design, so you plug them directly into your device and away you go. There is a standard control set for volume, on-off etc, as well as a convenient clip for attaching the cords to a jacket or shirt.

The secret sauce of the earphones is packed into the somewhat clumsy rectangular rechargeable battery dongle that plugs into your device (phone, tablet, etc) and is connected to the earphone cords. This has an on-off switch and small detachable USB cord for recharging. The product insert indicates that a battery charge is good for sixteen hours or so.

How well do the earphones work? I travel regularly on mid-sized turboprop aircraft (Bombardier Dash 8 Q400s) operated by Air Canada and Porter, and more recently took several trips on much smaller and noisier Beechcraft turboprops. I also took several trips on an Air Canada Embraer mid-sized jet, and an Air Canada Regional Jet (CRJ).

The Q400 turboprops are annoyingly noisy, especially if you are sitting near the engines. The noise reduction while wearing the Bose 20i earphones was truly impressive and made these flights much less unpleasant.
