This is one of the best Sil. Special Editions I've read--in fact, one of the best *books* I've read. Nina Baxter has to struggle to support her two children, one of whom has allergy troubles, so health insurance is a must. When Nina is laid off from her job as secretary she must reluctantly accept the offer from David Hansen to be his private assistant. This story is amazing--Nina's growing relationship with David is realistic, touching, funny, and sad. Comic relief is provided by Bubby, a grandmother everyone should have. Have a box of tissues ready for the last chapter. This book is excellent and worth the effort of tracking down.

Wendy Warren has surpassed herself with this book! The second in the Family Business series, she delights and engages readers with likeable Nina Baxter, two adorable kids and Bubby - an aging Jewish grandma. Nina Baxter is having a bad day ... her rent just went up and then she gets fired from her long-time job. With two kids and an aging grandma to feed, what's a girl to do? When she find a new job and can't pay the rent, she gets desperate. so when former boss David Hanson offers her a solution - work for him at his home, she can't tell him where to put his offer. The catch is, she and her family has to move in with him. Not your typical romance, so be prepared to laugh and cry with Nina, David, Bubby, Izzy and Zach.

The Boss and Miss Baxter by Wendy Warren
Silhouette Special Edition # 1737 - February 2006
Single mom, Nina doesn't know how she's going to support her two children now that she's been laid off from her job of 12 years at Hanson Media. David Hanson catches her having a mini-breakdown and wants to find a solution for her situation. He proposes that she become his Personal Assistant, on his personal payroll, and that she move herself and her children into his apartment. David's never had a real relationship, and at 44, he's discovering that he really likes having Nina and her kids around. Nina's always put her kids first, and she's afraid of her growing attraction to David. When they have a glorious 16 hours alone, David jumps the gun and proposes. Nina's fear causes her to react and she and the kids move to her grandmother's.
Ms. Warren did a fantastic job bringing her characters to life. David is a decent man and wants very much to do the right thing. Nina's always been so strong for everyone, she's forgotten how to live for herself. With David she's learning to have the courage to love again. The secondary characters are all charming and often very funny. Ms. Warren created a few laugh-out-loud moments that really worked for the story. Well done!
