Product Description

From the Author

Grania Davis writes: I have lived around a lot. I have dwelled in a mountain village in Mexico, on a primitive sandbar in Belize, and on a beach in Hawaii. I have taught in Tibetan refugee settlements in India, and worked as a military historian in neon-lit Tokyo. I have traveled extensively in North America, Europe, and Asia/Pacifica. My travels have inspired a series of fantasy novels based on the interwoven myths of the orient. The Rainbow Annals is based on Tibetan legends. Moonbird uses Balinese myths. Marco Polo and the Sleeping Beauty, written in collaboration with Avram Davidson, is set in China.

I have settled down recently, dividing my time with my family in Marin County, California, and on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. I enjoy playing with time and space, but rarely write about other planets - this one is too interesting.

4.0 out of 5 stars His writing is like good wine (really!), Jan 5 2001

This review is from: Boss in the Wall: A Treatise on the House Devil (Paperback)
Beautifully structured, ages well, satisfying on its own yet leaves you with a desire to sample more. The Boss in the Wall, completed by his ex-wife and partner, Grania Davis, contains many of the best qualities of Davidson's writing. It is filled with wonderful bits of knowledge you won't find collected anywhere else; each piece adds to the enjoyment of the story; the reader walks a few pages listening to a terrific story-teller and then - BANG - she is in the middle of an involving tale without being entirely sure how she got there. Read - read - read.

This review is from: Boss in the Wall: A Treatise on the House Devil (Paperback)
First. Please do not let the cover of this book to describe it. It does not. Yes there is a house and yes there are House Devils, but they are nothing like the cover. As well the cover depicts yet another horror story. This is not a horror story, not completely. The story is very avram davidson who is primarily a fantastic/science fiction writer. Yet this novella spans so many genres. The writing is vivid, but yet the story itself has a not quite seen, other worldly feel to it. Yet the things that generate this atmosphere are very real, relatable, almost historical. At times its like an anthropological search for the boss in the wall. And yet(I keep saying yet...)its not at all dispassionate/scholarly. Whatever you have to pay to get a copy of this book I very much suggest you do.
