Top Quality Slade at their very best :-) if you like Slade but unsure about tracks you don't know, don't worry, this will not disappoint, a wide variety of styles as it progresses through the years, but distinctive Slade sound all the way through, just excellent :-)

Music is good and I really enjoy it. It reminds me about all good times when I was young and I would recommend it to all who love loud old rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best box set I've heard! April 1 2013
By B. Hakala - Published on Amazon.com
This is the best box set I have of ANY group! It so correctly represents the career of the band. Sure, the sound quality of the earlier recordings is not that good - as they never have been - and maybe that's just the quintessential sound of Slade! Their appeal. Don't get me wrong - I loved the sound that evolved on their latest albums. I believe their career came to an end way too soon - maybe because I only discovered the band when "Keep Your Hands..." was released stateside.
So, back to the box... Why does it so well represent the band? It includes so many more songs that you associate with Slade that don't get included on every other "Best of" compilation out there (and there's enough, isn't there?). Some of what I'm talking about: "Know Who You Are", "Take Me Bak 'Ome", "The Whole World's Goin' Crazee", "When The Lights Are Out", "The Bangin' Man", "Thanks For The Memory (Wham Bam Thank You Mam)", ... and I could go on and on. And of course there's all the stand-by's as well: "Mama Weer All Crazee Now", "Gudbuy T' Jane", "Cum On Feel The Noize", "My Oh My", "Run Runaway", etc, etc...
What I really like about this box is that the extra "fluff" as you get with most other box sets I really wouldn't call "fluff" at all. There are no outtakes, demos, half-recorded-works-in-progress like so many groups like to include on box sets. Every song is worthwhile on this collection! I was especially pleased with the inclusion of the two later recordings "Radio Wall Of Sound" and "Universe" - I didn't have copies of these songs prior to this box set.
Bottom line - are you a fan of Slade? Get this box - it's worth the price and you won't be sorry!
5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for all classic rock lovers!!! Its time we get to hear Britains best kept secret!!!! July 12 2014

One of Rock & Rolls biggest mystery's! Why didn't "SLADE" ever make it big in the U.S. ? They are the only band other than the Beatles to have scored 3 consecutive number one hits upon release in Britain! They have scored 33 top 30 hits in Britain! John Lennon hearing Slade in the studio said " I love that blokes voice, he sounds like me." a very Lennon thing to say! Ozzy Ozbourne said " Noddy Holder has one of the greatest rock & roll voices of all time - there will never be anyone quite like him or Slade!" Gene Simmons of KISS said " We modeled our whole attack style after Slade they were our greatest influence!." Other rock stars to give Slade high regards are Alice Cooper, Paul McCartney, The Sex Pistols, The Jam , Boomtown Rats & the list goes on! Quiet Riot scored a number one hit in the U.S. with Cum on Feel the Nioze a full decade after Slade hit the charts with it in Britain! No one knows why they didn't break out in America...I think it was a cosmic cry out from their U.K. fans saying " We shared our Beatles our Stones , The Who, Pink Floyd , Led Zeppelin & Black Sabbath...Your not getting our SLADE!!!!" It is indeed a mystery why America didn't embrace this band! Slade's music is on par with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones or any of the other classic rock band! Well here is your chance to get to hear a great rock & roll band comprised of four great guys!!!! The box set comes with a nice book that gives you a nice story of where Slade came from & how they became a national treasure in England!! This box set basically spans four decades of hits! And if you love classic rock it is worth every penny!!! The booklet is full of interesting information about each member. I will never forget the story of how power house drummer Don Powell tragically nearly died in a car crash leaving him with permanent amnesia! On stage his band mates would mimic the beat to help him remember songs he had played a hundred times but couldn't remember. Or the time he woke up in a panic not remembering where he was & ran out naked , Imagine the surprise when the front desk manager of the hotel was confronted by this bare naked well muscled man wearing a "Do Not Disturb!" sign dangling from his privates! asking "Where Am I ?" & more unnerving "Who Am I?" The members of this band are unique & endearing but it is the music in this box set that really tells the tale!!! All killer no Filler!!!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars I love Slade but... Jan. 18 2014

...this is too much of a good thing.

Slade were great in the 70's, some of the finest rock and roll America missed out on. Great hooks, big guitar crunch, outstanding energy, Noddy's searing vocals, the best run of singles since the Beatles... they were the real deal, and had an astounding amount of influence on plenty of rock bands to come.

That said, by the 80's they hit quite a downslide in quality and very literally sounded like Spinal Tap (don't give me that look, listen to "Rock & Roll Preacher" or "Night Starvation" and tell me I'm wrong). So while this is a fantastic band that absolutely *does* deserve a nice box set, if you're like me you might be skipping a lot of songs on discs 3 and 4.

You absolutely *should* listen to Slade, but if you haven't heard them yet you'll be better served by a one disc compilation or a few of their early albums.
