I was surprise to find Quint was such a loner, by choice. But I guess sooner or later a man realizes he need a good woman. Abe knew his grandson needed help and help him he did. Bringing Maura to his house was the perfect surprise. I loved the way Quint and Maura's relationship gradually progressed. They didn't immediately fall in love but slowly got to know one another before those feelings develop. I like it when a story is more realistic. And Maura getting pregnant the first time they made love even while she was on birth control, was fate at it's best.
