Death Wish for Women, Mar 16 2008
This review is from: The Brave One / L'épreuve du courage (Widescreen) (DVD)
Jodi Foster goes around killing people who deserve it, nuff said really but let me go on. This is Death Wish all over again with Jodi being the female version of Charles Bronson. The difference is that Death Wish did not try to be anytihing other than a "kill for revenge let's watch some evil dudes get what's coming to them" movie. It didn't take itself too seriously or try to be something it wasn't. What I found annoying about this one is that it tried to make some sort of statement, tried to be something more than it is (witness the beautiful song by Sara McLaughlin, hey it is there to really make you think). I am surprised that both Jodi and Terrance Howard are part of such a, I have to say, nothinig movie.

The Great One, Mar 8 2008
Jodie Foster & Terrence Howard are great in this movie. Love the beginning the middle and the end. Well written with an awesome story line. You feel a connection with the good guys and you really want to grab the bad guys by the throat. The blu-Ray has a great picture.

Terrific performances from Jodi Foster and Terrence Howard (4.5/5), Feb 19 2008
This review is from: The Brave One / L'épreuve du courage (Widescreen) (DVD)
this movie was much better than i had hoped or expected it to be.it
basically turns the vigilante genre on its head, and has a female
character as the vigilante.apparently this has been done a few other
times in Hollywood, but i still liked it.like any vigilante movie,it
certainly poses tough questions.it contains some terrific performances
in it's two lead characters,Jodi Foster as the vigilante, and Terrance
Howard as the cop on her trail.both are outstanding and very credible
in their respective roles.Foster really makes you sympathetic to her
character and rooting for her, even though you probably
shouldn't.Howard's character is also sympathetic, because he has mixed
feelings, but has to follow the law.he comes off very convincingly as
someone who is conflicted.the movie is well paced and appropriately
dark.even before the end of the movie,i thought it was well done, but
the ending caught me totally off guard.it elevated the movie a
notch.for me,The Brave One is a 4.5/5
