5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Basic & Fancy Breads of All Sizes July 7 2008
By C. Phillips-Sears - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a great book! I just got a bread machine and have been trying out all the breads.

Features I love about this book: split into many sections so you can try many breads; each recipie has measurements for three sizes of loaf depending on the size of your breadmaker (small, medium, or large).

There is a lot of variety in the kinds of breads shown, from fancy breads to doughs to basic breads. There is a lot of variety in the ingredients and in the flours, and there are a lot of breads for which it is easy to adapt recipies for vegetarian/vegan baking.

Very simple, easy-to-follow directions, and luscious pictures.

Edited to add: after about a year of making bread from this book, I have one caveat: at least one of the recipes has a typos in the ingredient measurements. The maple-oatmeal loaf, one of my favorite "daily" breads, simply would not come out correctly until I realized the author had listed the wrong amount of flour for a small bread machine. The correct measurement is not 3 and 3/4 c white flour; it is 1 and 3/4 c white flour.

A colleague brought hers to work and I knew I had to get one. The seller sent one that looked brand new and it got here in record time. I especially like the front section of this book as its shows how to form and create fancy styles with your dough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book! Many good recipes! Dec 6 2010

My mom has this book and when I moved out and got my first bread maker - I snatched it up from her until I finally had to get my own.

This books breaks down the basics of bread - all the components, and how they work together. I found it to be a good beginner level and easy to understand. I usually resort back to several basic recipes - pizza dough (amazing!) for example.

Like with any recipe book, some need a little more/less of this or that. With bread, this can definitely depend on region and humidity so I would advise keeping an eye on it when you try a new recipe out. A few I've learned need more flour than is called for.

Must have for the bread machine owner!
