Product Description

Album Description

2011 album from the band led by former American Idol Chris Daughtry. Break the Spell is a gleaming showcase for Chris' powerful, emotionally resonant voice and knack for relentless melodic hooks and big, anthemic choruses. Produced by Howard Benson, who produced Daughtry's two previous albums, Break The Spell gives the band room to evolve musically while aiming to satisfy its many long-time fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars another good cd by daughtry, Dec 25 2011
This review is from: Break The Spell (Audio CD)
I really like daughtry's latest cd. I am not finding it quite as good as his last cd however it is still very good. Best song on it is Rescue Me. Played it for my daughter and that too has become her favorite song.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Excellent Daughtry album, Dec 6 2011

I wanted to wait a couple of weeks before writing this review, so all of the songs could sink in. I hate when people write a review after listening to an album once or twice. As it stands right now, I've probably listened to this CD all the way through 15 times. Pretty much every day since it came out.

This is a fantastic album. I absolutely loved "Leave This Town", so I won't say that this album is better, but it's definitely in the same league anyway.

Daughtry gets a lot of flack for putting out your standard "Verse, Chorus, Verse, Bridge, Verse" kind of song. I don't see what's wrong with that, as long as the music and content of the songs are good. It's not like this is bubble gum pop without any meaning or soul. These songs are deep, catchy, and fun to listen to. Anyone who criticizes this album for being too plain needs to get the rod out of their butthole.

Standout songs for me on the album are: Renegade, Crawling Back To You, Outta My Head, Start of Something Good, Break The Spell, We're Not Gonna Fall, and Spaceship. I just realized I put 7 of the 12 songs on my "Standout" songs, lol. Yes, it's THAT good of an album.

My only beef with this is the "Deluxe" version of the album. The songs that didn't make the cut aren't very good. "Leave This Town" had several B-Sides that were actually better than most of the songs on the album. But these B-Sides stink, and aren't even worth listening to. As big of a Daughtry fan as I am, I have to say that the extra songs are pretty bad.

I don't want to end this review on a down note. This is a GREAT album, and I urge you to BUY this album! Yes, BUY it. Chris Daughtry is a good dude, and I felt very comfortable buying 2 copies of this CD and putting some money in his pocket.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK!, Dec 7 2011

I'm a pretty hardcore Daughtry fan, and so far, I'm disappointed with this album. There are a few songs that may grow on me in time, but overall, I'm not really feeling it the way I did with the past two. There's no real stand out on this album. I agree with some of the critics that they're becoming formulaic and need to really shake things up next time so they don't start writing canned tunes. It's not a terrible album, and like I said, some of it may grow on me, but it's not up to their usual standards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daughtry doing what they do best!, Nov 21 2011
By Amy E. Barker - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Break The Spell (Audio CD)
Daughtry's new album, Break The Spell, has been released today. I ordered a copy from the band's website and just got it in the mail this morning. The album is more of the melodic rock that the band is known for. This one is their most upbeat yet. I love hearing how the band has evolved and are growing into their own sound. Some of my favorite tracks are: Start of Something Good, Gone Too Soon, Losing My Mind, Rescue Me, Louder Than Ever, Spaceship, Everything But Me (bonus track). Overall, it's my favorite album yet by the band.
