Product Description

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul return in their Emmy® -winning roles of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman in the fifth explosive season of Breaking Bad. With Gus Fring dead, Walt's transformation from a well-meaning family man to ruthless drug kingpin is nearly complete. Forming a partnership with Jesse and Mike (Jonathan Banks), Walt proceeds to make a killing in the meth business until the fruits of his murderous schemes are threatened by a new development in the investigation led by his relentless brother-in-law Hank (Dean Norris). Executive produced by Vince Gilligan and Mark Johnson, the fifth season charts the murderous rise of Walter White as he reaches new highs...and new lows.

I feel like someone has to say this... yes, at this price point this is a bit of a rip off (even if it's 8 episodes of one of the greatest TV shows of all time, and these 8 are amazing), this should be $19.99, maybe $24.99 max, but no one should have felt "tricked" or anything like some of the reviews suggest. I know we live in the age of Netflix, where Arrested Development just gets released all at once, but Breaking Bad is a cable TV show. The final 8 episodes of season 5 hadn't aired yet, did you actually think they were going to sell them on DVD and you'd have the entire series before everyone else got to see it on TV? Also, clearly some of you are new to buying DVDs. When seasons of The Sopranos first came out, they were $80 or so.

Also, for those of you saying "Well, I'll just wait for The Complete Season 5", looks like the wait is going to be a long one. Amazon has put "Breaking Bad: The Final Season" up for pre-order, and it's very likely that this will just be the final 8 episodes. Until they do some sort of special edition where you get the entire series, I don't think you're going to see the two half seasons in the same box set. If you have Netflix already, my advice is to just watch the episodes on there until you can find this for a better deal than what they're charging now, or just bite the bullet and pay for it. It's expensive, but it's "grade school teeball vs the New York Yankees", Breaking Bad IS the best current series on TV, and by the time it wraps up it may be one of the best, if not the best, complete TV dramas of all time.

Great series but this is a rip off. It is on;y the first 8 episodes for the price of a full season. You will have to pay the same or more to get the real full season, when it comes out, including the first 8 episodes which you'll already have.

DO NOT ORDER THIS YET

I did not get to watch the dvd as it was formatted for a zone 2 and I live in zone 1. I was told I could send it back in mint condition.
Unfortunately, I had already processed it for my small island library so it had a little bit of sticky stuff on it after I removed the card and pocket. I am disappointed that a zone 2 dvd would be sold to a zone 1 buyer. Does anyone check on this typed of thing?

Purchased thinking "The Fifth Season" was indeed that, however this CD set does NOT included the last episodes of the Fifth Season. Misrepresentation and should state in the description that the set is NOT complete.

Given the popularity of this series, of course, it went on for another season. Doing it as two half-seasons is just plain dumb especially when you're paying $22 for a DVD box set and get only eight episodes. Another problem is after you watch this 1/2 season, you realize they could have ended "Breaking Bad" after Season Four and left the futures of those still alive to our imagination. It really would have worked.

Even so the positives are Jesse becomes the moral compass and matures a ton and Mike gets far more screen time now Gustavo Fring is gone. I still don't buy the Mike and Walt meeting by the river at all. Sorry, but a pro like Mike would not be THAT dumb given all that we know and have seen about him. That's all I'm saying. Just watch, and you'll see what I mean.

OK, but given we go into the post-Gustavo Fring era, I have so many problems with the setup. You're telling me no other drug cartel would step into the vacuum? I mean, it's not like Fring's empire stopped at New Mexico's borders. Also, we're back to family angst and it just does zip for me. After Seasons Three and Four really ramped it up and finally Skyler became semi-interesting, I'm back where unless Jesse and Walt are talking to each other, I'm tuning out. Sorry, I just am.

As far as the extras, besides the usual commentary tracks, behind "Breaking Bad" and deleted scenes on most, Disc 1 has a Benny Hill sped-up writer's room time lapse thing without the Benny Hill music and audition tapes of a couple of newcomers--Landry (or Lance as Coach Taylor often referred to him) from "Friday Night Lights" is now on the series and he's decent plus this Lydia character who's apparently the one who shipped the meth all over the place for Fring's empire.

Agree with other comments. This is one of the very best TV series but the studio is ripping off the fans by assigning a price point to this 8 episode package that is equivalent to a full 13 episode season. Studios have done this with other TV series....Battlestar Galactica comes to mind. I really want to buy this but I'm going to wait until the price drops.

The only reason I rate this as just okay is the DVDs were incompatable with my DVD player. This was my error in not recognizing I would need a multi medai player. Rarewaves was very obliging in their willingness to take it back and were very helpful in their instructions on downloading to my computer and burning DVDS, which would then work in my DVD player. I chose the latter.

The DVD did not play on my DVD player.apparently it was an issue with the discs not being North American. It did play on my computer but that was a pain. I realize its buyer beware but the seller should state that it may not(isn't) playable on a North American system. Why is that???
