5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful... inspiring... thought provoking... Nov 10 2012
This book contains a fabulous collection of photos and essays written by the women themselves who have gone through breast cancer. Both the photos and words help you understand what these courageous women have undergone in battling breast cancer, their incredible strength, their inner and outer beauty...

A beautiful book that helps demystify breast cancer, mastectomies, reconstructive surgery, prosthesis, etc.

The photos are stunning and indeed worth a thousand words...

Wonderful gift idea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not only for those who survived breast cancer... Nov 24 2012

I heard about this book through a journalist who reviewed it for the newspaper 'La Presse' in Montreal Quebec. Having had a mastectomy 3 years ago, I thought I would like to have it so ordered it to be shipped to me in Sweden where I know live. The photos are not shocking, they are hard to look at sometimes, but not shocking. Those women are All beautiful in the best sense of the word. And there is a strange and unexpected sense of serenity in their individual testimonies. These are rather short but the essential is there. 'I had breast cancer, I went through a lot of turmoil, I survived and I because of
this ordeal,I am a better person now for myself and my loved ones' Something to that effect... I think that this book is a must for anyone who is interested in what it means to be a woman, feminity and the intense relationship we have with our breasts. Phil Carpenter has put together with the help of all these women, a beautiful and a meaningfull book.

5.0 out of 5 stars About Time! Nov 13 2012
Breast Stories reveals more about mastectomy and reconstruction after breast cancer in a beautiful format. The text is written by the women themselves and is so real, revealing and true. The stories are varied and among the 53 there will be one, that a woman who is going through this journey, can relate to. Mr. Carpenter has photographed these women beautifully and allowed them to speak about their experiences. I can't say enough about this book for women (& their men), friends, who are going through the surgeries. I hope every plastic surgeon will include this in their library, too. A wonderful work!
