Bought this to replace our dying Charlescraft breadmaker of 18 years. Love our Breville convection toaster oven so decided to try their breadmaker as well, based on reviews. Loaves are big and perfectly crusty and browned. Being able to fully customize any aspect of the baking of the kneading and baking process is a HUGE bonus. The laydown paddle works perfectly. Not sure about the dry ingredient dropper mechinism. Found it hanging one day after doing a loaf and it appeared broken. Put it back into place and it appears to be ok now. Will have to keep an eye on it.

The controls and display are the easiest to see and control than any other maker on the market!! Large display shows everything in a very easy to understand way. Love the window and internal light to see how things are coming along. Worried that one paddle would not be enough to move the dough ball around but it works just fine.

One reviewer complained about the paddle scratching the bottom of the bake pan. He even included a picture of the damage on his review. The idiot had the paddle in upside down and that in itself, caused the damage. The breadmaker itself works perfectly IF YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, which clearly that reviewer did NOT do.

Best breadmaker on the market as far as I can tell.

All the breads (I've made 9 made so far) were excellent & very much appreciated by everyone who tasted them. As far as measurements I find that when it comes to the yeast I need to use less then what's indicated. I had a few rising against the little window, although they did come out fully baked. I use Robin Hood flour (White, Multi grain & Whole wheat) and the Multigrain is the most popular so far.

I've tried to make bread with chocolate chips, but even with the dispenser adding them later on in the kneading process, the chocolate completely melts/dissolves and colours the dough a bit darker. I don't really mind that there's no chips to be found because the taste of the bread is really great, it's just not what I expected. I've also made bread with sundried tomatoes, oregan & basilicum: So Yummy!

So far I'm very happy with my breadmaker, it's not hard to clean, doesn't make a lot of noise, Yes it makes the table wobble a bit, but that's normal & the smell when that bread is baking..... I'm getting hungry again :-)

Have run the Breadmaker for nearly a year now. We had one paddle seize up (but it was promptly replaced by Breville) and we still use it 2 times a week and almost never buy bread from the store. You won't save money doing this (yeast is expensive) but at least you know what you are eating and waking up to fresh baked bread is a nice thing :-) Be sure to clean the paddle thoroughly after each use especially in the hinge (I occasionally oil it with some vegetable oil) and make sure your ingredients are at temperature or the bread won't rise fully. We tend to use the delay feature to allow the ingredients to reach proper temperature as our butter tends to be too cold since we keep it in the fridge. If you do, you get beautiful fresh bread every time. If this one were to break...we would buy another one.

In general I like Breville products as they end to be better made than others. I think their warranty should be longer than one year considering the cost of their appliances and their propensity for things to go wrong though. So far I made a loaf of white and pizza dough twice. The white loaf had quite a hard crust on all sides but another reviewer said to put the machine on light which I plan to do next time and expect that will solve the problem as it did for her. The pizza dough is fabulous and very light. Tonight I am making one of the recipes that calls for sunflower and flax seeds but I am having a problem with the nut dispenser as it doesn't seem to be able to hold the specified amount of nuts and falls open as soon as I put them in. The book says the vented bottom of the dispenser should click into place but I am not hearing or feeling any click. It does shut and though I have pressed it shut quite firmly, the lightest pressure from the nuts causes it to open again so looks like I will have to take the bread maker back tomorrow after having it only one week.

The lighted display is a great feature. General operation is quite simple. The font in the recipe book is on the small side and unless I take it to an area with a very bright light, I find I have trouble reading some of the amounts in the recipe even with my reading glasses on. Does it say 1/3 or 2/3?. It would be great if they made the font just a little larger.I don't think it is me as I don't normally have that problem unless I don't have reading glasses on.

It looks nice sitting on the counter. It is a little larger looking than I expected. At first I thought the bread pan looked small in comparison but the 2.5 lb loaf is a good size when it comes out as it rises above the edge of the pan.

This is a great SIMPLE bread machine with smart engineering behind it.
(More industrial designers should keep things simple - it takes real talent to keep things simeple.)

PROS
01) Well designed.
02) Control panel is big enough to see and the menu is very intuitive.
03) Stainless steel finish - I prefer metal over plastic appliances.
04) It has other features such as making jam, cakes, pizza dough and gluten-free bread etc., but I don't really have the need.
05) It is quieter than other bread machines in my opinion.
06) Glass viewing port with separate light switch is really handy.
07) Option to mute the beeps during the operation is nice especially overnight.
08) Built-in nut/fruit dispenser is a nice feature, too.

CONS:
01) Cleaning the Paddle blade and the "bucket" requires manual effort - not dishwasher safe.
02) Inside the baking compartment should be cleaned after each use - I'm a bit lazy.
03) Baking aroma causes everyone to hang out in the kitchen and drool. ^_^

I'd buy another one if I had more counter space in the kitchen.

For best results, PLEASE follow the instruction manual and recipes precisely!
