Product Description

Review

"A delightfully ingenious cosmic comedy on the nature and structure of ultimates. Here are travelers tales such as you rarely find; metaphysical jaunts from one end of the universe to the other."
(Jean Houston, The Foundation for Mind Research)

"A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness is a user-friendly, comical approach to what can be impenetrable subject matter. Bentov keeps in touch with his audience by providing it with images and physical analogies. For those who crave a more objective view of the same philosophy, Bentov's work is complemented by a selection of essays by other authors dealing with same subject matter in a more traditionally scientific manner. Though not as easy to read as Bentov's humorous writing, it is refreshing to see something annotated and sustantiated. It reminds us that the insights gained from Bentov's intuition have their roots in fields ranging from Eastern philosophy to modern physics.

A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness is a light but satisfying foray into the cosmos. It will please both the layperson and the educated physicist, and will make anyone chuckle."
(Patrick Brennan, Fate, February 2001)

"He is another author who has successfully shown the parallels between science and spirituality. I most recommend his works, especially A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness for it will inspire you in most unimaginable ways."
(Jaye C. Beldo, The Konformist)

"This is a book to puzzle you, delight you, and give you some 'Ahs' in your search to meet yourself and the nature of reality!"
(Arlene Goetze, Network for Women's Spirituality, March/April/May 2002)

About the Author

Itzhak Bentov was a mechanical engineer who combined a brilliant mind for mechanisms and structures with a lifelong interest in meditation to describe quantum physics and the advanced states of higher awareness in ways easily grasped by readers. He is also the author of Stalking the Wild Pendulum.

I must say from the beginning that this is another one of those instances where I thoroughly enjoyed an earlier book written by an author and then was underwhelmed with a subsequent book.

The first book written by I. Bentov, “Stalking the Wild Pendulum” was entertaining, informative and written in such a way that a person who did not have in depth knowledge could still follow along. I enjoyed reading that book and I will read it again, likely more than once. In contrast to that, I found this book, “A Brief Tour Of Higher Consciousness” to be one that I will likely not pick up for the second time. The content in this book is certainly more esoteric than in his original book and I can understand that such material is more difficult to discuss; however, even with that caveat I still did not find this book very enjoyable or relevant to my journey.

For example, a significant amount of the book is dedicated to describing the “model of the universe” and while it may be an accurate representation of the spiritual nature of the cosmos, discussing, at length, the hierarchy of the beings that create the universe is irrelevant to me. Whether there are seven levels of creation or 70 levels of creation, or if the universe is in the shape of a watermelon or a grapefruit, is not something that I concern myself with.

On a positive note, the information about holograms presented in the appendix was informative, I enjoyed reading Foreword wherein some background information into the books creation was discussed, and I did glean a few nuggets in the text itself. In addition, I do admire the fact that someone with a more scientific background took a chance by writing a book that revealed their personal beliefs about the nature of the universe and cosmology.

Light, fun, profound, and mathematical Feb. 27 2006

This book is the best (and most fun) introduction to the modern idea of Enlightenment combined with quantum physics that I have ever come across. And I have been swimming in these "Enlightenment" waters for over 35 years now.

"A Brief Tour of Higher Consciousness" is light, fun, profound, and mathematical. The author relates the ultimate meaning of the Universe with both the Hebrew and Sanskrit alphabets. I especially like the chapter about the Devas because it so closely parallels my own experience.

The subtitle of this tome is also revealing: "A Cosmic Book on the Mechanics of Creation." Wonderful!

Highly Recommended Jan. 4 2011

Itzhak Bentov is one of my favorite writers. If you're interested in creative visualization exercises but retch at New Age jargon and cringe at trendy timid non-thinkers who parrot buzz words and kiss the feet of gurus, you will be at home here.

Bentov's warmth, his playful intellect and his sympathy with all things through the use of his imagination makes him one of the most fun and powerful mystical thinkers who ever dove down a monster's throat or wobbled inside a galaxy.

Bentov accepts the fun premise that his awareness is a part of the awareness that created the universe. So he accepts as his birthright the ablity to explore his larger self, known as the universe. In his books he shares, step by step, the many cool visualization techniques and paradoxical mental tricks he learned along the wav using creative visualization to explore the amazing inner universe of the "cosmic mind."

Enlightening and Informative Book that is Mandatory Reading June 4 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Itzhak Bentov's second book after "Stalking the Wild Pendulum", (that was completed/published by his wife after his untimely death). Itzhak bentov was a genius in the area of physics and metaphysics, and reveals to mankind (those with the intelligence, and open/elightened minds) the proverbial secrets of the universe.
Other recommended books are- "KYBALION" by Three Initiates ; "Initiation of the World" by Vera Stanley Alder ; "The Secret Life of Nature" by Peter Tompkins ; "Meditation" by Sri Chinmoy ; "Heaven's Mirror" by Graham Hancock ; "ZELATOR" by Mark Hedsel.

Relax and Have Fun ! Feb. 16 2011

This little book is kind of a continuation of the author's Pendulum book. There is also a DVD presentation available.

There are tons of books available on the topic of Consciousness and Awareness. But this one is simply a class of its own, because of the humor, simplicity and graphics. If you fast forward to the end conclusion, Relax and have fun, because there is no end to this evolution.

As an Abraham-Hicks follower, Bentov's conclusion is same as Abraham-Hicks.

In the DVD, the first few minutes you can watch Bentov's short interview-presentation. And you can feel his easiness and fun attitude.

I prefer his first book, but I realize that some will benefit from this one Oct. 20 2013

In conclusion then, this a book that is not on the list of my favorites and I predominantly added a "Book Review" because there will undoubtedly be some readers who can relate to Itzhak's experiences and who would benefit from reading about them.
