From Booklist
PreS-K. This flurry of words and pictures captures the excitement of Mommy getting ready to go out for an evening. The pigtailed narrator first notices that "the air is full of tickles." She thinks there is going to be a party at her house. Then she realizes that Mom is going out. But the mother, in a robe and with her hair in a ponytail, reminds the child that she is Mommy's helper. And boy does the child roll into action, running the bath, "waking and shaking up" the party dresses in the back of the closet, spraying "pillowly" clouds of perfume, and finally picking out the reddest lipstick--just perfect for bright red kisses. The whimsical watercolor figures waft across pages decorated with the embellishments of the sparkling evening: shoes, makeup, bubbles overspilling a bath. Mothers who are going out for the evening will like having this captivating volume on hand.

Review
The premise is very sweet... Betteridge's watercolors echo the activity level and myriad choices found in the rhyming verse. Cute. (
