I would classify this as a bit of a silly Regency.
Meaning it's a bit too sugary and goody goody for my
taste. It's a cute book though, but I didn't have the
patience to read it all the way through as my tastes
lately require that a book be extremely well written
with good emotions and clever turns of phrase, otherwise
I haven't got the time to finish the book. I did like
the incident at the beginning of the book where
Captain Ramsdell keeps meeting up with Katherine in
the water near the bathing machines at Brighton and
keeps sneaking up on her in the water for some hugs
and kisses. As if such a highly "improper" thing
would ever happen back in those days. I thought that
was a good thing to add to the book and thought the
author rather clever for thinking up such an idea
for the story.
