3.0 out of 5 stars Some good content, but formatting gets in the way Aug. 5 2013
By Pamella Neely - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a pretty good introduction to Twitter. It takes a real hit by being poorly formatted - I counted repeated paragraphs four times, and about 15+ pages toward the end of the book are all hyperlinked. There are no images, either, and they would be helpful to have when the author is walking you through how to do simple tasks in Twitter, like creating a list or uploading an image. I took off a star for the formatting issues.

The book is written in UK English, but North American readers won't be bothered by that. Occasional use of the word "dodgy" is kind of fun, actually.

Another drawback here is that the book itself ends when you're about 70% through the document - the rest of the pages are a promo for another book. This is a common thing for Kindle authors to do, and that's fine, but having a third of the book be a promo for another book seemed kinda heavy-handed to me. Especially when the entire book promo was hyper-linked because of bad formatting.

For me, the book did not quite deliver on its promise: Learn how to deliver powerful tweets. By powerful, I assumed tweets that would get retweeted, favorited, or responded to. But there was no data on what kinds of tweets get that sort of interaction, and I have seen some of the stats myself, so I know the data is out there. If you know some formatting or writing tricks, you can get more action off your tweets.

I took off a second star for the too-long book promo and for not delivering on the book title.

What the author did remind me do to was to interact more with the people I'm following and who are following me. So I'm going to start favoriting and retweeting more, not just tweeting about industry reports and good articles I found and (very occasionally, less than 20% of the time) promoting my own content. Was that knowledge worth the 40 mins it took me to read this? Eh... maybe.

But, bless her, the author did update this book in May 2013, so at least it is current. Most books on Twitter or anything Internet related do not get the updates they need to stay current. The data here is at least still accurate. Hopefully the author will go back and fix some of the formatting issues. There's a good book in here, but it needs some more love.
4.0 out of 5 stars Attention Luddites! Sept. 1 2013
By Susan Scott - Published on Amazon.com

I am so unclear about using social media in any form let alone using Twitter correctly. I have skim read Linda's book and for a Luddite such as I am, it makes sense. When I have the time to really study it, I know I will benefit as she writes In a clear and concise way, and in a way that makes it interesting.
